No worries! Yes the video is getting old lol. Multiple layers can be made at the same point when you’re drawing out the stencil from the projector. I tried doing stencils and I always end up with my outcome smudged or running, I'm not sure if I'm spraying too close or not letting the background dry enough which I'm sure I am. The outcome just doesn't come out as sharp.
@youngwarriorfineart4 жыл бұрын
Yo Infamous I appreciate the comment! This is likely the greatest challenge in stencil making, I have tried many methods in the effort to get the most crisp lines and short of using vinyl that is adhesive backed, each method has its drawbacks. My best advice if you are spraying vertically, like in this video, press the stencil close the surface with your free hand and be very subtle with your paint, it is easy to spray too much especially if the can is too close. I have had the best results spraying stencils horizontally however, weighing the stencil down from the top and spraying gingerly that way! Hope it helps!

I have found that a spray adhesive sprayed thinnly on the back of the stencil works awesome. Wait for the adhesive to almost dry 4-5 mins, then its tacky. But doing this method you have to let each layer dry fully

@@youngwarriorfineart thank you. They are pretty cheap
@youngwarriorfineart4 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! Yeah they aren’t too expensive but I would recommend extra blades because the whole point of using a very sharp knife is to get clean cuts that won’t rip the paper, so you will need to replace them every so often as they dull or break.

@@youngwarriorfineart you mentioned something about tracing paper. What type of tracing paper and what size? Also you mentioned something about an projector? Which one? What type of stand are you using in your video?
@youngwarriorfineart5 жыл бұрын
dbz mini yes tracing paper is a good option, any kind of transparent paper will do, just needs to be the exact same size as the image you want to use for the stencil, this can be harder though because sometimes you can’t make the image bigger which is why the projector is great. I have an off brand projector from amazon called an exquizon, it’s works okay. I taped the stencil paper to a board and propped it up with a painting easel, I just put my projector on a pile of books lol.

@@youngwarriorfineart ok but isn't the poster board too thick to trace the image or is that what the projector is for. Will I need an projector screen as well. I am a bit confused

Young Warrior Fine Art can I ask you another question? How long can I use a cap, until perhaps the paint clogs the cap and it needs to be replaced? Thanks!
@youngwarriorfineart5 жыл бұрын
Marco Dimario of course! Typically a cap can be used until it clogs, to prevent clogging you can turn the can upside down and spray until only air comes out, this may take 2-3 seconds but it will save your caps! Last thing though is the Rustoleum cans I use in this video can be sprayed at any angle so this trick won’t work with those.

“Make sure to never cut towards yourself.” 1. Literally impossible more than 20% of the time. 2. The least stable position 70% of the time. 3. I’ve only ever cut myself while cutting “away” from my body. As someone who works with sharp and potentially deadly tools for a living, there are plenty of situations where cutting towards the body is the safest thing to do. Of which, almost always involves a predominant wrist action.

Kinda pointless using a stencil if the colors are gonna bleed and blend under it. Obviously you weren't happy with the result 11:45 yourself and sprayed over parts(chest at least) 11:50 but that only caused the black to bleed over the white which makes it worse IMO
