I’m just making my first ever extracts using your method. Thank you for showing how to “fix” the whole almonds for extract. I didn’t fret over only having those on hand because you show how to blanch and peel them. I’m making vanilla, coffee, and cinnamon extracts now, too. Thank you again! I love the way you break things down so well.♥️ God bless y’all.

I am so glad I stumbled across this while looking for your butter canning video. I have been told by someone who’s on the wagon that they can’t have extracts because of the alcohol in them. This version solves that problem! I just can’t help but wonder what all you use your almond extract for, considering that you use a gallon in a year. ☺️

I am loving your extract videos! I have made vanilla with alcohol and I'm not opposed to using alcohol but I will be trying some with glycerin, A tip on getting the skin off of blanched almonds take a heavy cotton, canvas or linen towel and put the almonds on half and fold it over rub back and forth and most will be clean. I made almond paste one time and did the same thing you did - I didn't think to buy them skinned! Thank you for your wonderful videos

This is fantastic, and so appreciated to do it without alcohol. Can you do the same for vanilla, mint, and citrus with the glycerin? Curious why you add water?
@MN-sc2uz10 күн бұрын
Yes you can do with anything that way. Im not certian as to why add water, but my assumption is to save up on costs of glycerine as opposed to using it 100%. Could also be related to steeping.

@1LuckieDuckie2 жыл бұрын
Watched your video and followed instructions. Still waiting for the Almond extract to "ripen" however, here is a little thing I learned. Don't fill the jar entirely full of almonds.. they swell up and your alcohol or whatever product you use will go into the nut and therefore makes less extract. I had open my jars and split the mixter nuts and solution into another jar. and added my solution. Guess what? The nuts/solution in both jars still swelled to about 3/4 up the jar. But, at least I will get 2 batches of almond extract out of it. I believe if you fill the jar 1/3 with nuts they will swell to 1/2 the jar but it would make a weak extract. Going 1/2 and 1/2 and leaving them to sit for a longer time will make a better tasting extract. I am going to leave mine for a year before I use them.
