Bhagtsa Markhu ingredients & measurements listed below.
Bhagtsa Markhu is an iconic Tibetan dessert and perhaps the only, if not one of the few desserts, in Tibetan cuisine.
Its unique and delicious taste is comparable to a sweet mac and cheese with a toothsome bite added by the "churra" or "chuship," Tibetan cheese, which is dry and crunchy and typically made from a female yak's milk.

💫 About Himalayan Dumplings Channel:
I share traditional & contemporary Tibetan recipes in English so non-Tibetans can learn about Tibetan cuisine as well. In my recipe videos, I not only share step-by-step instructions, but I also like to provide cultural context & explain the “why” behind certain cooking steps, so you have a holistic understanding of the Tibetan dish.

This reminds me of the time my roommate attempted to make Mac n cheese once with my Vietnamese soy milk (not realizing it would be sweet) and it actually tasted amazing! Not sure what I could substitute for chura but I’m definitely putting this on my cheffing bucketlist; this looks super good

That's definitely a story for the books. I love those cooking oopsies that turn out amazing :) I'd love for you to try it. The chura is definitely hard to find in US..toasted parmesan cheese is what comes to mind as a substitute for a crunch. Thank you for your interest btw. This is a traditional Tibetan dish that's kinda being forgotten amongst our younger gen. .

You have made my day with not only your kind kind words but also for embracing this unassuming looking traditional Tibetan dish. Yes and tsampa is absolutely one of the ingredients some add for nutrition & texture. Katin che my dear 💛 😘

where to find chura ??
@HimalayanDumplings
@HimalayanDumplings 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. You can typically find them at Tibetan stores. Now that you mention it, I might make a video on how to make that since its not very easily available if you're outside Tibet, Nepal or India.
