For everyone saying there's a good deal of psychobilly artist here. My bad. Usually, when I put on Horror Punk playlists, these artist I've included are always there. So let's all agree for this video that Horror Punk can also be a bit of an umbrella genre where punk and psychobilly can co-exist, or I'm a big dumb idiot who shouldn't trust user playlist... YOU DECIDE!

We appreciate your approach to this subject, and are flattered that you showcased us prior to mentioning the Misfits. We unfortunately are more inspired by Alice Cooper, Kiss and Gwar. The problem with including us in this video is that the horror punk genre considers us too metal. So we are going to need a horror metal video...but we are not metal enough for them either. We just don’t have what it takes to be part of the cool kids clubs. But you...you include us in what you consider an integral part of something, and for that we thank you.

This music sounds like every other band I was in in the mid to late 80's. Back then, we just called it, "Punk". I've never heard of it referred to as, "Horror Punk". And your song title sounds seriously like an album title that "Alien Sex Fiend" would have come up with.

Genre classification usually comes later (since it's hard to classify things before you see how their trends and average traits shake out) and it's determined by the qualities of the music rather than how the individuals playing that music prefer to label it. In fact it's probably the norm for people making music in budding genres to not actually know what genre they turn out to be playing, although in the post-internet world where labels and communities spread insanely fast that's probably changing. Like I imagine the gap between the first vaporwave music and the self-awareness and identification of vaporwave artists as vaporwave arists was significantly smaller than it was with something like this.
@BlackburnBigdragon4 жыл бұрын
@@TheSquareOnes I understand that. Back in the 80's, I was doing a LOT of experimentation with tape. I used to create tape music by making rythms with found sounds, or snippets recorded over and over again from music albums, and I would just saturate the recordings with recorded found sound till they were pretty much a wall of noise with insane rythms knitting the whole thing together. What I was actually creating was "Industrial Music". I was pretty much doing everything that Throbbing Gristle was doing. But at the time, I didn't know that "Industrial Music" even existed. Where I lived, you just had no access to any of the bands or individuals creating it. I used to call my "music", "Sound Collage". It was different than Musique Concrete, and it was very.. punk. More punk than punk, in my opinion, because at the time, all the punk bands all constructed their music with the same sounds (guitar, bass, drums, vocals). I was pretty much saying at the time, "Using the standard setup of guitar, bass, drums, is what EVERYONE is using. I rebelled against even THAT. This "new" Sound Collage thing was the REAL punk in my opinion at the time. I felt that it spat in the face of anything considered music. Punk, despite how noisy it was, was still recognizable as music. Sound Collage was.. just this unrecognizable mess that was different every time you listened to it. It wasn't until years later that I discovered other bands that were doing similar stuff and were working with the same ideas I was.

The big one is Mister Monster, absolute classic and Jason Trioxin (Rest in Peace) is a hero of the genre, a lot of horror punks (myself included) hold Mister Monster and Blitzkid in even higher regard than The Misfits! The Misfits started the genre, but Mister Monster and Blitzkid perfected it! Then a handful of newer bands I love; Darrow Chemical Company, All the Damn Vampires (previously known as Cut Up Naked Teenagers), Silent Horror, and Evelyn's Casket.
