I've finally tried SBHP soap. I couldn't believe how easy it was! I just do a single color soap as I don't like the swirl outcome. Not as pretty as cold process. Your swirls were beautiful!

Once hot process soap is done cooking, it's gone through the saponification process. Cold Process Soap goes through saponification in the mold and is soap after roughly 48 hours. Regardless of whether it is hot or cold process soap, it has to cure for 4 to 6 weeks. This evaporates excess water and to develop soap's crystalline structure. Hot process can be used right away but it won't be as good as it would be if it cured for the 4 to 6 weeks.

It does not "have" to cure. It is nice to have a harder bar but you can use the soap right away just fine.

Of course immediately the hot process soap is physically too hot to use and immediately the cold process soap mixture is still caustic with lye and not turned to soap yet. But very shortly either is usable, usually after 24 hours either is fine, and both improve by curing because it will be harder from drying out and last longer

You don't say what happened but usually it's that you just didn't get the oil hot enough. I would try again and make sure you oils are at least 200.

@@HowToMakeSoapOnADime I’m sure I did get it hot enough. I was using Royalty Soaps recipe and I wonder if it is water discounted too far for this method. Never could get volcano. I just need a recipe to try with and am willing to buy one from you.
