What is the right level of resolution?
(Fine granularity)
What is the minimal change you need to make in order to progress?

Very interesting to hear your in depth knowledge about INTPs. Beats reading about it. You are spot on in all your three latest INTP videos. Enjoyed watching. I'm almost 39 years old and just some months ago learned I'm an INTP. Mixed feeling about that. But at least now I know the basis for why I am and always has been this way ... Looking forward to your future videos as I'm sure they will be interesting. Thank you. I'm subscribed.

This was great. Increasing granularity/competence by doing instead of strictly abstract thinking can provide a finer resolution to the solution of the problem in ways that strictly thinking/planning about the topic cannot. Makes sense. With a natural inclination to explore and a timidity to act we tend to explore by reading and imagining. To make real change and to utilize all the explorative mind has to offer it would be best to saturate the senses with real life experience since many of life’s problem cannot strictly be read about. Do all you can to increase granularity. Great analogy.

"Do all you can to increase granularity." ... Nothing could ever go wrong if we take that one at face value o_O

We INTPs are so afraid of making a decision that wasn't worth the effort that we solve it by not allowing ourselves to want anything. Subconscious Ni critic - Critical of possibilities in the future of the self.

Thank you! I can’t begin to tell you how useful this video was to me - It expresses that inner conundrum I’ve always faced but have been unable to articulate precisely for some reason

You do such a great job at compressing subject matter it is not always obvious what level you are coming from, except the level of processing that it probably takes to naturalize the “uncanny valley” or sorts. However, the level of awareness in yours sons eyes, rare and wonderful, puts a fine point on the matter.

It's great to hear your explanation at the time I did because I was already starting to reconcile this tendency of my thought process. This strategy brings to mind the expression: "biting off more than you can chew." Trying to intake so many sources of "potential" at the same time gives you a greater chance of failure, because you're cross-referencing different sources with one another thinking that every little detail is another source for understanding the situation better. This is a risky play; sometimes it works, but most of the time we move further down the rabbit hole wondering how we even got there. When at first, we just wanted to see what kind of rabbit it was we were chasing. TL;DR: Make a habit of analyzing in totality the immediate, most directly apparent elements first. Better to have a small foundation that's guaranteed, than a large foundation that's fleeting.

The strength and weakness of abstraction have the same cause: the removal of information. Removing details allows the abstraction to apply generally across many situations, yet this removal all but ensures that each application will be inexact.
@MattLaine
@MattLaine Жыл бұрын
Not if you have an implementation of the abstraction for each concrete instance thereof. If you still have a problem, that means the abstraction was inadequate. Still, that's not even my biggest concern. My biggest concern is that people (INTPs) figure out the abstraction and then lose interest. It's kind of like how Thales was essentially useless until he actually cornered the olive / olive press market.

@@MattLaine Ahh ok, yeah this makes sense, it's a more complete view. It's sort of like having an abstract class or interface: you need to implement the methods, and its failure to work if you don't isn't the abstraction's fault.

Why do you take interest in INTPs while not being an INTP yourself? Just curious. I’m a 29 year old INTP and just find my passion for computer science.

I may not be one, but for me the INTP is one of the best types with which to engage in symbiosis.

This is kind of like a submarine having a sonar signal for its surroundings. Accuracy of information over breath of information lends itself to greater reliability and finer control of the immediate situation. Breadth of information over accuracy of information lends itself to more opportunity, potential and greater or more influential direction of your course. Art any rate it's not like this is an intently descion that anyone makes it's just a form of mental focus one has in their natural state. So the purpose of this discussion may be nonexistent except when materialized or tangible into a project of some sort and even then people probably switch between the two in different stages of projects. I don't think it's as clear cut as mbti would lead one to believe, the problem of having a single perspective is that you start to look at things in the lens of that perspective too often and end up overfitting information into there instead of updating it to fit overall reality,but ironically maybe this sentiment is merely a symptom of what I said before.
