Thank you for this recipe! Some people are trying to avoid high fructose corn syrup, but what many people don't know is that the corn syrup in the grocery store is NOT the high fructose stuff. On top of that my way of thinking is homemade foods are better for us because of the absence of preservatives.

Thank you very much sir. I loooove this recipe. Easy and quick to make. However, i made a few changes for a healthier version as my kids eat a lot of ketchup. I used Maple syrup instead of corn syrup (1/4), used monk fruit instead of regular sugar (1 tbsp). And organic tomato paste, added more garlic powder (1tsp), and used apple cider vinegar because that's what i had. It turned out great.

@@alaksandrshpak5500 I do have a full recipe with all the ingredients is listed in the description box. White distilled vinegar is the most common vinegar used in cooking, and it is always 4 to 5% here in the States. With that said it doesn't matter to much the vinegar used, a variety can be used, apple cider vinegar, etc.

Well did you put in 2 6oz cans? Cuz when I halved the ingredients for a 6oz can it wasn’t nearly enough liquid?
@inthekitchenwithmatt7 ай бұрын
Yes in this recipe I used 2 6-ounce cans. If you have the recipe you use 1 6-ounce can and 1/4 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of vinegar. That is plenty of liquid.

On your blogposts, why do you put a section on most of them saying “How long do (food’s name) last?” Although sometimes foods like these, potato chips, grilled cheese sandwiches & other stuff like milkshakes can actually be enjoyed right after they are made & can most likely be devoured in no time? I mean if you leave things like that for too long because you’re not going to eat or drink them & reheat them up again except for milkshakes & potato chips, that can cause them to not taste as good. It’s best to always eat or drink your homemade stuff fresh & not let them sit on the counter or in the refrigerator for too long.
@inthekitchenwithmatt8 ай бұрын
Because people want to know how long they can be stored in the fridge and if they can be frozen or not.

guys try with no vinger or very very little ginger powder!!! mine was not great that much
@inthekitchenwithmatt5 ай бұрын
I would not advise that. Vinegar is one of the main ingredients in ketchup, it is what gives it that classic zing taste. Meaning, if you want to actually make ketchup you need to use vinegar.
@HAJRA9914 ай бұрын
Tested perfect with vinegar. I actually used more garlic and i loved it.

It really is disappointing how people just vaguely remember things as dangerous but confuse an actual syrup and whats basically a manufacturing waste product.
@rayg3583Ай бұрын
Honey would be a good choice instead of corny syrup. Don't use sugar. Use Stevia.
@inthekitchenwithmattАй бұрын
You can use honey if you want. But there is nothing wrong with corn syrup. The corn syrup used in cooking is not the same as high fructose corn syrup. And no, I like to use actual sugar. But you can use whatever you like.

I'm not feeling it. We could buy a 32 oz. bottle of ketchup for $2.69 or all the ingredients it takes to make it at home for $14.99 - Maybe do some videos on how to make homemade tomato paste, onion powder, garlic powder, distilled white vinegar, and corn syrup? (I think homemade granulated sugar might be out of the question.) But wouldn't this be fun, though?
@inthekitchenwithmatt9 ай бұрын
You are forgetting, buying all those ingredients LAST a really long time, its not like you use ALL the ingredients for this one recipe, except for the tomato paste. And those other ingredients will get used for many many other recipes. And most people already have lots of those ingredients at home. The purpose of making it at home is not necessary to save money but to know exactly what is being put into it.
@carpetcleaning9996 ай бұрын
But making any food at home is healthy vs to store bought. I don't care how much more it costs, my health is much more important than $10.

Well it’s also helpful for people like me who live 30 minutes from the nearest grocery store and who has to buy lots of things in bulk to make other various things at home because I can’t afford to buy everything in bulk and when you buy ingredients in bulk and make a lot of things like this at home you actually save money. Granted I did buy ketchup before and I just ran out of my bottle and found I had all the ingredients at home so I don’t have to drive 30 minutes to the store just to get ketchup. Also factor in gas money and health reasons.
