Teto how long have you lived in Canada?? I’m originally from a village called Koleshino near Strumica, we came to Melbourne Australia in 1975, I was 9 at the time, 58 now and getting older 😂, my wife was born here In Melbourne but her father is from the Greek part of Macedonia, a village called klabuchishta, her mother is from kalnik, I think they call it gorno kalnik, and her grandmother is from dolno kalnik, so good to see someone like you sharing authentic recipes from home that people like me that have forgotten about their own culture, sorry about making you read a novel 😂

Thank you so much for your comment on my Macedonian cooking! I have many relatives (the Tsaparis) in Melbourne. I myself am I Canada. I am 80 years old now, and have been in Canada for 73 years now. I still speak Macedonian and my family honours heritage so they encourage me to film these recipes to share with anyone who might find them interesting. My father's part of Macedonia (Aegaeska) Makalo was chicken and gravy. How interesting the diffent names for things. For example pita, banitsa, zelnik, burek...

Thank you for the comment on my Makalo recipie. I experienced Gravy with Eggs and feta cheese back home! There are many variations to the recipe. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for the comment on my dialect, when I visited Bitola I was complimented on my Macedonian speaking, I am from Nevolany in Aegean Macedonia.

@@AfternoonsWithBaba My father was from Smurdesh in the Kostur region but the family left for Plovdiv after the Greeks took over after second Balkan War. Smurdesh no longer exists...My mother was born on Bansko Bulgaria in what is know as Pirinska Makedonia. Two totally different dialects but it was fun to know the different words for the same thing. They met here in USA. I was born in Gary, IN in 1951. All family besides immediate are in Bulgaria and I like going there to visit. When I make chicken Makalo, I judge when the flour is done by the smell of the flour and it's color like you do! Keep sharing and having fun. Oti? Oti!

We visited Bulgaria in our last visit to Europe, and my husband’s uncle lived in the Macedonia Kola; he left Nevoljani after the war. We loved Sofia, it was a beautiful city.

@@antoniodelrey585 My mom was also from Smurdesh in the Kostur region and last sibling of her family immigrating to US after the War. Her mother, my baba, came also but planned to go back to her home after a few months. Smurdesh was destroyed during that time so Baba had to stay in US. My mom made Makalo while my brothers and I were growing up but she made it with Chicken and used the Chicken broth for the gravy. We loved Makalo and ate it with bread besides the Chicken. There is a possibility we might be related, my mother's maiden name was Karandjeff. She had 2 sisters and two brothers. My dedo passed away when my mom was quite young.
