Will jasmine rice work?
@tiffanyh629 Жыл бұрын
@@THEoneandonlyRatBastard preferably, mochi would require sticky/glutenous rice since regular rice (or regular rice flour) may not give you the right texture; rice flour tends to make things dense whereas glutenous/sticky rice flour tends to make things sticky and squishy. @doof32314 жыл бұрын
Is glutinous white rice sticky?
@mark3473474 жыл бұрын
@@doof3231 Yes, clue's in the name. The stickiness comes from a type of starch (Amylopectin for you food nerds) which helps the mochi bind. Most other types of rice have too little of this starch to form mochi. Brown rice has husks and kernels (depending on type) which traps all these sticky goodness in. If you really want the mineral goodness of brown rice in your mochi, you can make it using brown rice tea instead of water. Might taste a bit off though and won't recommend it at all.

I just made this last night because I wanted something sweet, I used brown rice and cooked it like you did but with brown rice because it is the only rice I had. (at least I think...) anyways, I put strawberries inside, and I took a bite out of them after I froze them, they were very doughy, and I was never really a big mochi fan, especially when I make it lol, I didn't mind the flavor, but the texture wasn't appetizing, and I am not judging this recipe, I guess I used the wrong rice, and maybe did some things wrong while I was making it, but the flavor is great, and the strawberries inside really bring out the mochi flavors! God bless you!

Hai! I'm planning to make this mochi using this ingredients :D do we need to clean the rice very well before starting? Thank you for helping us make Mochi without rice flour
@mayatmosphere43775 жыл бұрын
Hi theeeere~ you should wash the rice until the water is almost clear like 70% clear, I hope you'll enjoy making the mochi 💕💕 😽

If u dont have food coloring u cam use frozen strawberries to make pink I put the frozen strawberries before I blended the rice so it blended together and the frozen strawberries gave a little flavor and it was so good

I will be making these tomorrow! I tried making one today by mushing rice (already cooked) and coating it in sugar and putting it in the fridge for 5 mins… it did not taste like mochi but it did taste good.

Is glutionous rice the same as sticky rice?
@prettyrat.4 жыл бұрын
@@jiminsjawlinecutme1897 yes. it’s also called “sushi rice” “japonica rice” “thai sticky rice” and “glutinous rice”. Japanese rice is different sized from thai but they’re both sticky.
