Ingredients
- 8 -10 chicken pieces
- 2 cups shredded stock fish
- 2 cups shredded dry fish
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh peppers (red & yellow)
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 3 seasoning cubes
- 2 tablespoons crayfish powder
- 1 teaspoon ogiri igbo
- Utazi & Uziza leaves
- 7-8 yam cubes
- 2-4 cups water
- Salt to taste

Good thing my mom is anambra woman, this soup is something I eat a lot at home and never get tired of it (especially with catfish). If you haven't tried this soup, you're missing out 😋😋

I do believe you can use coco yam also as thickener. That was the go-to thickener in my Mum’s kitchen growing up

It's really nice but why omitting the main Nsala soup natural ingredients which is uda(negro pepper), ehuru seed(Africa nutmeg) and uziza seed( Piper guineense/Ashanti pepper).... With all these natural ingredients, the nsala soup will taste better❤. I'm from Anambra State.

She is probably Yoruba, that is how we do it. Different cultures that’s all. Don’t matter wether you put swallow on separate plate or beside the soup in one plate…all that matters is that this delicious soup and swallow will end up mixed together in your mouth. 😂

Using cocoyam is even the best. I was using yam before friend introduced the cocoyam to me. Try it and you'll love it.

If you use cocoyam that's a different soup on it's own. The thickener for ofe nsala is yam only nothing else

I love your kitchen settings. I think the garlic isn't a general ingredient. Uda, olima, ezulu etc, are best used to give it the original vibe. Nice process though.
