I have always kicked myself for not paying attention to my grandson d mothers baking recipes of her own and participation when asked. My cousin ended up being the Baker and got all grandma's recipes she will not share. I was blessed with mom's hand in cooking incredible homemade low budget dinners though. so I have been blessed. I have always bought a cake like this and it's my favourite! I've been looking for a similar recipe for so long and this one looks so good! The only problem is they don't sell cool whip where I live :( Is there something else i can replace it with?

Clarine You can make it homemade if they dont sell it where you live. All you need is a mixer (a hand mixer is ok but it does take longer and a lot of moving around, but a stand mixer would be best), 1/2 cup of sugar, and heavy whipping cream. Make sure the heavy whipping cream, the bowl, and maybe the mixers are all chilled. Whip for about 3 minutes or until it becomes thick and when you pull the mixers out you have peaks on the end.Good luck. You can also find other videos on KZbin about it.

cool whip is basically cheap whip cream. You can just make your whip cream from scratch powdered sugar + whipping cream and whip them google it

Our mousse is still watery even after 10 minutes in the fridge. It's very bubbly on the top layer. It's like the cool whip doesn't want to be mixed in with the jello. What can we do? Or do we have to restart?

Nina Shkinder you may have added the Cool Whip into the Jell-O too early. The Jell-O should have been soft set when you add the Cool Whip. It should still be OK, it will probably just need more time to set in the refrigerator.

It looks terribly good. Just a thought for those who are on a diet. Replace the Cool Whip with the same amount of fat free vanilla yogurt. Today, my daughter will make this recipe, but I always do my mousse with fat free yogurt and it is excellent.
