It's like the universal Russian food for all celebrations. And nobody knows why..
Ingredients:
8 crab sticks, chopped into cubes
quarter of a long cucumber or half of a small one, chopped to cubes
50g grated cheese
4 boiled eggs, grated
quarter of a small onion, diced or grated
1 clove garlic, grated
3 tablespoons canned corn, without water
some salt if needed
4 tablespoons of mayonnaise or more if needed
Tutorial:
mix them. that's it.
How to cook hardboiled egg?
put some water to boil.
enough water so the eggs are well covered when inserted.
wait for water to boil.
carefully insert eggs into water.
let boil for 12 minutes.
when ready, drain hot water and run eggs under cold water into put.
peel and enjoy.

How strong is his accent to you? In the west, most of our exposure to the Russian accent is that fake accent you hear in movies, and to our ignorant ears, all Slavs sound the same.
@aleatar
@aleatar 2 жыл бұрын
@@BlackEpyon well, you should take my words with a grain of salt, 'cause I'm no specialist in precise pronunciations, nor do I give much attention to accents anyway. But for me his accent is mild, the only word he said with a solid accent is "приготовим". And he also might be just messing with us and purposefully saying some words differently than intended. I mean. it's Boris 😂 The main problem with the West portraying Russian language is not accent, trust me. It's mostly enormous grammatical errors. But who am I to judge, my English is terrible sometimes

@BlackEpyon

@@aleatar In the movie "The Death of Stalin," They didn't even attempt at a Russian accent. A good thing too, since it's mainly British humour. Supposed to be a dark satire (it's banned in Russia, of course), they play the historicity a bit loose, but I thought the movie was hilarious. NFKRZ did a video about western trope of using faux Cyrillic, and the hilarious butchery that ensues when you try to read it literally. Syntax was my issue studying French when I was in school. It just made no sense to me. Maybe they just didn't teach it right, or maybe it's just my autism, but I really struggled with it. Most Canadian schools teach French as a second language, or English in the case of our Quebec province (which primarily speaks French), but I ended up just dropping that class entirely.

@@Ealsante I'm sorry, that I can't tell. I'm not Russian, never been in Russia, I just speak Russian. And to be honest, I'm only like quarter Slav myself. my (Portuguese) dad made something called Salada Rússia but with lobster & sometimes added fried & breaded shrimp around edges. Veggies & lobster are boiled & lightly seasoned w/olive oil & vinegar, salt & pepper. regular salad + roasted peppers added in a line down middle of dish. mayo is used on top of ingredients as a shell. boiled eggs are separated & then pushed thru a strainer to create egg confetti. the confetti is used for making designs on top of mayo. then shrimp around edges. it's my ALL TIME FAVORITE *miss you Dad*

@@cobalt1754 Actually it is fairly cheap. This is because a lot of the time it doesn't contain crab but surimi. They add different things to it to make it taste like crab in that case.

I heard that the technical term for that is 'Salad Olivier', and it looks like every slavic/balkan country (and Romania) has their own variety of it. In Poland we call it 'Christmas Salad'. My family makes it without any meat.

im from russia and this salad is my favourite. although i do add rice as it gives more salad in total weigh anddd adds a little bit of soft side to the dish to contrast the crispiness of cucumber and corn. (just like the eggs. if you want your salad to be tender tasting just add more eggs)

Here in South America (particularly Uruguay) we frequently eat "russian salad" as a dressing for a lot of foods, which is shockingly similar. Swap the crab and cucumber for some potato and carrot pieces (and keep all teh mayonez), serve cold and you're good to go.
