I LOVE Rutabagas! I was never sure which was which with Turnips. What I do before I peel them is run them under VERY hot water to take the wax off. When most of it is off I will add some cold water, but as hot as I can take it and scrub them with a scrubby sponge and soap. That will make them a LOT easier to peel. Wash your sink and sponge out too as soon as you are done. I usually just boil it, add lots of butter, salt, and pepper and mash it all up. I can't wait to try this recipe. I've never seen it made like that. Thanks Miss. Chris!

I just slice off the thick top area & then with a large peeler for heavier peels, peel them horizontally from top to bottom & then cut them up. I think melting the wax first just spreads the wax around, making more work. It sure wouldn't be good to get that wax in your drains!

Hello, Mrs. Chris every time I watch one of your videos it brings me back to memories of my mom. She was a southern cook true to the end and whenever I have family get togethers I'm always doing the cooking from homemade dressing to sweet potato pies. I have mastered your yeast rolls. I send you a picture a while back of me making my yeast rolls and you thought they were your picture. of My mother could make yeast rolls but I never did pay attention. I learned and followed your recipe and that is the one I go to every time I make yeast rolls. I truly enjoy watching you.. you remind me of my mom she was about your size and I'm about your size and every time I watch your video it just warms my heart to see you as I write this letter I am crying thinking about my mom keep cooking and keep sharing and I love you.

I love Rutabagas, like you say it’s very hard for me to peel. But I’m gonna try this way. I usually use smoke pigtails or fresh depending on what time I want to eat them. But I love this I’m gonna go today that’s my meal for tomorrow. No extra meat is required like chicken or pork chops. Thank you for sharing
@myhearts4192 жыл бұрын
Yes! Smoke pigtails are the best seasoning with pigtails. We also add a little sugar to balance the bitterness of the rutabaga.

Yes I did state at the Q&A, we have to remove video’s 3 years or older or they will take them down. So I don’t want recipes like this to fade in the Sunset so you will see me repost what I can when I can. That’s why you will see some repeated before they disappear.
