You can use ziplock bags, plastic takeaway plates or anything that can close and not allow it pick up the smell from the freezer

I believe your nonstick pan is a bit scratched or your batter is runny or too thick it may also be as a result of the fire . Low to medium flame is good enough. Hope this helps

You can put a drop of oil in the pan and clean with a napkin before using the pan. Maybe it can help
