ive been making 10% niacinamide serum with xantham gum soft for a year almost and yesss it does feel so sticky and tacky on the skin. i dont even weight it out. i just try to add the smallest amount just enough to make the serum less water like. i also disperse it in glycerin so maybe thats also adding to the tackiness

When using Aloe Vera Gel versus Juice, doesn't juice need to be refrigerated? If not, is it because the preservative counteracts that? I see a lot of serums with juice versus gel, but am worried about it not lasting in a serum.

You need to buy cosmetic grade aloe. Whether it’s juice or liquid. Then follow directions provide by the seller for storage

Thanks for the video I have a question, I just made a serum based on xanthan gum that is its base is aqueous. As an active ingredient I tried to mix with CBD oil, when I did it separated into oil bubbles did not bind with the serum. What can I do? I don't know what to use what kind of emulsifier to bind the aqueous phase with the oily phase :( help!! ❤

I discussed what gelling agents you need to use to add oil into serums in the video. Otherwise you would need to either do an emulsified milky serum, like I shared on Patreon. But I have a whole series on emulsions, like o explained in the video. Or you’d have to mix the oil with a solubilizer like polysorbate 20 or 80

My beautiful lady, Niacinamide B3 must work at an average pH of 6. If it is less than that, it turns into nicotinic acid, which irritates the skin and makes it sensitive.

You don't need to worry, you just mix it with glycerine/propanediol like you're used to :) Yes, you certainly provided a lot of gelling agents, sorry for the tone with what I wrote!, HEC is so widely known and good that I was surprised it wasn't mentioned. Some experienced formulators say it's better than xanthan gum because it isn't tacky. I like it more because it is more modern, rather than the 'cheap' and easy choice big companies still do instead of modernizing because they think they can get away with it - that's how I feel lol. I use it at 0.8% - at 1% it becomes peeling in my experience
