Locating fish at speed with your fish finder can be a huge time saver. You're able to cover a lot more water and find larger pods of fish vs trolling at slow speeds. Know how to place your transducers is key to getting great results. We went out walleye trolling looking for Lake Erie giants.
Check out my video on transducer placement.

So... I had a new boat on order from Vic's last year when I met you at the boat show. Had them set things up the way you described in this video when they rigged the boat. Had been out fishing with "the pack" last fall and hadn't done well, but on the way in,... at 30mph, guess what I saw on my screen? Turned around, set up on em and the party was on! Yesterday, went to a spot where a guy told me they were 2 days earlier. They weren't there. Drove around for quite a while and eventually found some! Saved the day! Thanks again for one of the best tips I've ever gotten!

Hey Cap'n Ross! Great to finally meet you at the boat show yesterday! Thanks again for more great tips! ... and especially for helping me understand this marking fish at speed better. I joked with you by asking that "Ask-hole" question at the end of the seminar about lure color, but on my way home I really started thinking about your frustration with those types of questions. I think I finally get it. I actually get those kinds of questions from newbie's in my profession too. And the more I think about it, it really applies to a lot of stuff. You're an expert. It's taken you X years (20 I think you said) to learn and refine your craft. Us weekend warriors want you to brain dump all of your knowledge in a 1 hour seminar so we can catch fish like you! Ain't gonna happen. This is still probably an oversimplification, but it's almost like asking an electrician why he's using the white wire instead of bare or red or black? He's got reasons, but in order to understand why he picked that particular color of wire, you have to understand WAY more about electricity than he can tell you in an hour! Far more important is what's inside that color (12ga, 14ga, 18ga), how far are you going to run the wire, are you running it inside or outside, ... and on and on and on. Anyway thank you for your patience with our "Ask-hole" questions! Tight lines! : )

Great Info that sometimes is not shared enough. I employ this in Erie's Eastern Basin and it certainly helps to eliminate unproductive water.

Dang you guys were on the lake and I was moving in to the house of my youth. My dad loved walleye fishing on Lake Erie. I inherited his rig all setup and your videos are helping me remember all the stuff he was trying to teach me. I caught a six pound cat on dipsy with a reefrunner in natural perch marking on Sunday morning. I bring my youngest son who is 22 and we have the fever now. First fish on his boat since he passed. I was on Bluff Lake in Illinois. I understand the fever brother.
