This is the first of a number of videos where I will be discussing over the counter arch supports that I am familiar with. Hopefully these videos will help you learn more about the products themselves and guide you in finding an insert that works with your arch type.

Super helpful thank you. I always get worse plantar fasciitis on my right foot and when I measured my arch with your method it actually 1/2 cm higher than the other foot, finally understand why it gets inflamed when i am wearing my orthotics and the other one does not👍

I had professional orthotics made (a cast made) for Morton's Neuroma. I have flat feet. The sort that look "normal" until I stand on them. I've never felt like these personalised orthotics gave me the arch support I need (I still pronate some and over time wear down my heels). Also, the metatarsal pads didn't see to relieve the stress to my metatarsals. I've been experimenting with adding metatarsal pads to my old Superfeet (black which is actually the height of my personalised orthotic) and I'm doing a better job with that. I'm trying the copper to see if that does a better job. Thanks for this tip... this will help.

I had another comment recently similar to yours... I'll be making an informative video about orthotics soon which will probably explain some of your findings. Stay tuned.

Hello Dr., I measured my arches and they are only 2.5 cm. Would I be better off with the Superfeet Green, orange, or with the low arch supports of the soft soles? Everything measures either higher or lower than 2.5 cm. I am slightly overweight, so I know they will be squished down more because of it. I have custom inserts already, but am looking for a good option for my other shoes since I have plantar fasciitis.

Since these inserts are all otc you can't depend on exact science for an answer. That being said, you may want to look at the Sof Sole high arch. The SHELL height is 2.3 cm and the insert itself "feels" a bit stiffer - like it would have more rebound upon unweighting. I think that is where I would start and then use that insert as the baseline for future arch support purchases. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXKci4GKmtdre68

So if I have a medium arches, would it be safe to get insoles that have low arch support?
@frugalfoot4973
@frugalfoot4973 4 жыл бұрын
Remember, most of them are very flexible and so they compress a lot when stepped on. So height is always relative. Going higher than you think often times pays off.

Frugal Foot O thanks for the response! For some reason I assumed you wanted to go lower when having to guess sizes. I thought that if you had too much support it would be more negative that having a little less support.

Are the arch heights of each foot supposed to be the same?
@frugalfoot4973

Good question. Usually they are pretty close but occasionally there are underlying situations where there can be significant differences.

Where do you define as the 'top of your arch'. This is important info
@frugalfoot4973
@frugalfoot4973 4 жыл бұрын
I am defining the top of the arch as the highest point of the mid foot relative to the ground without weight. In an anatomical model this would be the plantar medial aspect of the mid foot. Thank you for your comment.
