Such a good point and I have noticed and been perplexed by that! SO many shoes, bags, even details on hats and such are only sold in golden hued hardware. As someone who personally likes to match all of my metals, and who is cool-toned (therefore wearing silver) it's very annoying when the handbag throws the entire outfit off. I hope brands will take into account both undertones in the future!

@tm64083 жыл бұрын
Fellow olive undertone here! Because olive means a green undertone, it is in between cool (blue) undertone and warm (yellow) undertone, so advice for neutral undertones usually applies fairly well. Your olive might tend a bit towards blue or yellow still, so gold might be slightly more flattering than silver, or vice-versa, but you should be able to wear all three metals :)
@mariap36173 жыл бұрын
@@tm6408 thanks for the info! I've found that I look better in more cool tone palettes than warm, silver dominates my jewellery box, but earth tones are our most suitable palettes I believe. Those darker shades of green, olive green, khaki, moss... Autumnal colours like dark orange and deep red... having green undertone can be tricky but in the end of the day you just have to find what works for you

Nicely explained. I avoid mixing metals, always thought it looked weird, but I see now that it's because I wear very few pieces and they're far apart, so there isn't any nice contrast effect. And the statement about hardware on bags being usually gold was really surprising! In my experience, vintage bags/shoes/belts are often gold, but modern ones are almost always silver. I'm always looking for gold hardware and having hard time.
@gorejs83963 жыл бұрын
Merci, Justine! I've long been a metal mixer, but haven't ever considered most of what you lay out here. I feel silly, because your breakdown is so logical & thoughtful. Now I'll be a bit more intentional when mixing my metals. I laughed when you got to the hardware on handbags, something that has always bugged me. Over the years, I've chafed against the idea that my handbag gets to dictate what jewelry I wear, so my solution: ignore it. No handbag is going to tell me what to do! And this is coming from a woman with far too many bags (I love them!). So if I have a bag with gold hardware & I'm wearing silver, I just keep the bag away from my upper body. Not the most elegant solution, but it works for me. Or at least I think it works for me. Maybe others are scandalized when they see me!
@justineleconte3 жыл бұрын
Don't feel silly, these are just options, there are probably more possible ways to think about it or put it into practice! 😊

Justine, you look so gorgeous in this video! I love a cat eye and a red or tinted lip, but your makeup here is absolutely GOALS! I also suspected that you were neutral, and it’s really fascinating to see that for you, the colour you’re wearing, contrasts beautifully with your skin (in my opinion) meaning in the blue (cool) top, your skin looks gently sun kissed and glowing (leaning warm); in the green (warm) top, your skin looks more translucent and rosy (leaning cool). I loved this, thank you!

I have also noticed that there is way more gold jewelry on the market! This is probably giving them a bit too much credit, but of the influencers, I know most (like Lucy Williams, Estee Lalonde, etc) most are very into gold chains/ gold jewelry in general and have made jewelry lines that are pretty much all gold. I think people are really attracted to the tanned skin with golden jewelry look, but sadly that is not a look I can achieve as a very pale cool-toned person :) Loved the video as always!
