Questionnn: I’ve learned that when you use grease in your hair, it is a done deal and you can’t add anything more to your hair as it is a sealant. So my question is: how do you remoisturize braids/twists? I have started using grease and at times I feel like my hair needs remoisturization but I always feel conflicted because I don’t want to waste my product if it will just sit on top of the grease. How would you remoisturize your twists/ braids sealed with grease if you intend to keep them in for 2+ weeks? Love your hair!

Grease is a sealant that seals in the moisture. So yes, you should re-moisturize your hair if it gets dry even if you already applied grease. The effect of the grease isn't everlasting... grease is a product like any other so it gets dissolved or evaporated (because of the temperate)...so most likely if the moisture has evaporated, the grease lost some of its effects. For example, you can apply your leave in + grease to your hair and then maybe your hair rubs against your clothes or your pillowcases for example.. So you have to re-moisturize as often as necessary even if you already put the grease. .. I hope I explained that well 😅 Thank you for the compliment ♡

Grease is an excellent sealant. But grease does not evaporate from the hair. You want to wash your hair with a shampoo to remove it (hence it’s a sealant) Although sulfate shampoo is greatly discouraged in the natural hair community it will remove the grease from the hair and scalp more effectively than sulfate free. Without you run the risk of build up which can stunt your hair growth, cause excessive breakage or excessive shedding. I use grease and I try to wash my hair whenever my scalp begins to itch which is about every 3 days, if I’m not able to wash my hair that often Ill at least do once a week. Once the grease is in your hair nothing will penetrate on top of it. It may feel as if it has but science has proven that to be impossible. Therefore you should apply a leave in or penetrating oil on damp hair after you wash it , then apply a grease on top. You can also just do the water and grease method. Water is moisture as well, as it hydrates the hair strands. Applying anything on top of grease is ultimately a waste of time and product. Check out Mrs. Mississippi on KZbin.

Looks well moisturized, but can u explain why you did grease wasnt used last??
@SimplyMeJahnette4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. ..because the LOC method works for my hair and Sulphur 8 is not plain grease, it's medicated so I think it's best to apply it on clean sclap for best results.. before oil and cream. So that gives me the L(G)OC method.

This video is very useful thanks a lot! I have a question for you : I have oil moisturizer lotions like "Pink" and I wanted to incorporate them in my hair regimen. Should I use those instead of the leave in or after the leave in? And how often do you remoisturize your hair between wash days and do you do it? Thanks for your help!
@SimplyMeJahnette3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome ! If it's an oil moisturizer you can use it before or after your leave in. As you wish... I probably remoisturize once or twice if necessary between wash days.
