I watched this video and then used this product as a temporary fix for a missing chunck out of a vinyl floor tile. I used powdered pigment to color the plastic to match the tile color and it works perfect. It snugly fits and it did not shrink as it hardened. I had 1 tile that was damaged and now I don't have to buy a whole box of tiles to fix it. I wanted the fix to be cheap, not stinky, and not goopy. I had been looking for a solution for awhile before I found this video. Thanks for sharing.

cool material. i usualy use bubble gum or hot glue on some things since they are chaper but yours is good for specific jobs. :) Sometimes i melt platic outdoors witha fan if i need to fix something. :)

Amigo, reading your comment made me laugh. It is good to know that I am not the only nut out there to have discovered the many uses of bubblegum... A stick of Big Red will harden to a serious weld over time. But If it is a serious problem, I sometimes bust out with the Big League Chew... F.

Very nice! I like this idea better than heatshrink because of certain tight areas especially electronics. Cheaper than liquid electric glue. And doesn't go off in a month. I want to make plastic safety catch ! Can your pour it into a mold ? Looks easy to shape.

what about thinner and polyestirene? Its really flamable, pero once it dries its quite solid and flexible and sticks very well.

@@laharl2k I made some Polystyrene by melting it with acetone, not the nail polish remover, it gets a viscosity like honey, it can be poured in gypsum molds. But it stinks,you need to do this outdoor or wear a respirator with a chemicals removing filter. It melts in gasoline too but takes mutch longer until it hardens. The stuff shown in the clip is nice , you can remove it with just a cup of 60C degree water. I have used silicone before to make a coat for my arduino data loggers but its a pain to remove it, polystyrene is like forever, you dont wanna expose plastic components to acetone.

It's very similar to Teflon the surface so I don't think too much is going to stick to it. As long as you don't get the mold hot it will retain the shape. Thanks for watching!

Wow thanks a ton! That stuff looks great I'll definitely order some because I have some car parts that it should work perfectly on! Is there a higher temp version or something similar? Unfortunately I live in Texas and car parts (especially around the engine) can easily get too hot which is why, like you said, electrical tape isn't a good solution! Thanks again and God Bless!

Hello. Good video with useful ideas. I am wondering... When you melted it to the flat metal it did not stick, but when you melted it to the end of the screw, it did stick? I’m looking to see if I can melt it to the end of a bolt to screw it on and off as needed. Any suggestions on how to get it to NOT stick to the bolt? Thank you. NOTE: I actually would like to make a mold for both the bolt and the bolt insert/hole. It would be nice if I can those two pieces to screw together. Maybe I need more research if planning on trying that.

Great video! Do you think it's likely to be possible to form a strip (or sheet) of Thermomorph/Polymorph with some kind of fabric reinforcement incorporated into it, for strength? I'm trying to fix a cracked polystyrene fridge drawer, but need something with some shear resistance.

Look for a thin sheet of the same plastic, then bond it using the proper adhesive.

Wow. Great video. looked it up on Amazon, and found lots of other brands. Thermomorph (same specs) for example has 631 reviews rather than 21 for Polymorph, and is higher rated. Have you tried other brands, and are they equivalent? There are numerous uses for me that I can think of, and plan to obtain such a product! Thanks again for the video.

I'd like your recommendation. I want to coat a set of pliers with a heat resistant plastic. At work, I have to solder thick gauge wires to tabs, that are welded to batteries, and I keep damaging the wire sheathing with regular pliers. I've tried to file smooth any sharp edges on the pliers, but in time I end up damaging the wire sheathing. I started using this PLASTI DIP Plastic Multi Rubber Grip Coating for Handles. It works but in time, it wears out and the metal of the pliers gets exposed. Do you know of a plastic mix product I can use to coat the business end of pliers, and have some average heat resistance. And if that's not hard enough, it has to be inexpensive. I don't need a large amount, just enough for a couple of pliers.

The material is very slick like HDPE, so you'd have trouble gluing it. Drilling is not a problem.

I have a mirror frame with a missing decorative motif, and I want to duplicate a small section of the frame by making a mold and then casting the missing piece in resin. Can this material be used to make a mold? It would need to release from the mirror frame once it was pressed into place to form the mold.
