The ratios are changing… when I was in 2nd or 3rd year there were only 1-2 female Surgery Residents in my college, in fact there are literally Zero Female Professor/ AP in surgery department…but when I became an Inter, suddenly the scenario has been changed! And now almost 40-50% JRs are female in Surgery Dept. It was really a very good change for once. Thank you ma’am for telling the world such an inspiring journey of yours. 🙏🏻

We say we are liberated as a society...and we don't discriminate on the basis of gender.....but it happens every single day all over the world...in small ways and big....it's important to accept that and stop gender based discrimination whether happening consciously or even subconsciously.... The first step is to accept that bias happens and then to actively suppress conclusions based on them

Thank you so much ma'am. ❤ With the Neet PG result coming out I've been told by alot of my family members who are doctors to not pursue this field because it's 'demanding' or think 'long term' which irks me because I've never dreamt of becoming anything but a surgeon. I resonated with almost every word you said ma'am. I was in awe when I saw my first exploratory laparotomy. Thank you for the inspiration ma'am indeed we need alot more women role models in this career and I hope I can add to the pool of women who can be looked upto in surgery and make it seem possible and joyous to go through this journey.

Girls rarely and very rarely (around 5-10%) enter into Orthopaedics, it is still a highly male dominated branch. Apart from this, in present India there's no real gender preference for any branch, be it medical or surgical. During my internship in surgery, in my unit out of 7 PGTs, 4 of them were girls 3 were boys. So girls are taking up surgery and doing pretty well in it. In terms of growth, financial aspect and demand, gynecology is a better option that's y most girls prefer that over surgery, but there's no reason for girls not to choose surgery.

This is not the primary issue to be discussed. Are you willing to bring up your girl child exactly like a boy child. There starts the discrimination. Indian girl child is always brought up with fear , inferiority and prejudice. Subsequently always men are selected out. You should in fact focus on the denied privileges of a girl child in India.
