Is the Line the No Man's Land initiation zone? I really didn't learn anything specific from this. I'm also 300 MMR so maybe that has something to do with it

The line represent how far you can go in and farm/push/gank/kill/scout. The closer you get to the line, the more dangerous it will be for you. The safeline moves depending if there is a tower nearby/tower dead, which team is leading etc

The Invisible Lines of Map Control! Important topic. Vision, the ability to respond quickly with numbers (tp spots namely but global ults being on/off cd), and buildings pressure seem to have the biggest determining effects in my experience.
