Natasha, this was a very informative discussion, as usual. Dual-citizenship is an important conduit for the use of Diaspora engagement and flow of resources (economic; human; ideas; technology transfer) from outside Zambia into the country in creating additional external resource pipelines to be coupled with internal networks. I am also hoping that the dual citizenship provisions can be extended & widened to African-Americans (United States) who are Africans forcibly migrated to the United States (centuries ago) from African spaces in and around parts of present-day Zambia (such as Angola and Mozambique) prior to modern geo-political borders or nation identification.

I mentioned African-Americans (in the US) specifically, but the Zambia dual-cit. provision could be expanded or extended to interested African Diasporans in various places in the Caribbean & so-called Americas where Africans were forcibly migrated centuries ago.

@ufundi1 I get where you are coming from but that was a good amount long ago. They have since formed their own unique culture within the America's and are more American than African. Many go through massive culture shock when they live in Africa and some eventually move back. If you wanna go that route then a proviso should be put in place that they have to live in whatever African country for a certain amount of time before they can apply for citizenship. (The process should still be easier than a regular foreigner).That way, they get to learn about the culture and people a bit better.

Regardless whether Diasporans have developed customized or unique slants on an Pan-African culture, they are still African. Diasporans can benefit the Continent via tourism, residence, economic investment and so on. Actually, the so-called African-American is pretty African if you are thinking of African beyond race, particularly in the southern part of the US and the Caribbean. On a daily basis, the lifestyle of people in Southern Africa is not that far apart from Diasporans living in the US. The infrastructure model of those places are similar based upon their being muzungu settler colonies. The less that we as Africans seem like strangers, the more that we prosper as a race from an UBUNTU perspective. Somehow, Caucasians in living in and out of the US don't seem to have the scenario problem which you described in relation to African people. Why is that? I would like to engage your thoughts.

I got my Zambian reg within days of arriving in Zambia in 2020. I was lucky because I had a copy of my very old one. It only took 2 hours🙂

Citizenship by Registration applies to the following: a). A Person born in Zambia to a Zambian but never held a Zambian NRC at the time of acquiring a different nationality b). A foreign person who has spent at least 10 years living in Zambia (Business, employment, studies) c). A person Born outside Zambia to a Zambian, who has an ancestor living in Zambia 2. Bestowal applies to A Zambian who acquired another citizenship before the 2016 Constitution Amendment Notice of Acquisition; a). Persons who acquired citizenship of another country after 2016 Constitution ammendment b). Persons who acquired citizenship of another country through marriage before/after the 2016 Constitution Amendment
