God bless this guy for being so honest.

Amazing that a guy like Peter Attia, at the level of extraordinary accomplishment that he is, had such a problem, and had the minerals to come talk about it to another high level guy. I'm just a regular dude and I beat myself up a lot for failing to live up to some standard that was ingrained into me for nearly everything that I do, from mistakes in folding laundry to those at work, etc. I will use that method of self-talk, show some self-compassion. Thanks so much doctors!

I have to admit I would always think of people like Peter being in complete control of their emotions. And can’t agree more hate yourself you going to have a bad vibe with everyone. Thanks for this PA. I don’t want to die an angry person.

I have some of the worst rage and anger of anyone I know, and I hate it. I know a lot of it comes from being bullied a lot as a kid, and my dad had anger issues that he took out on us, but now im 41, and I'm tired of exploding over little things.

You can beat it! I'm sure you can, if you are willing to learn how. My journey started with understanding shame, which is closely related to the negative self-talk spoken of in this video. It's possible (likely?) you have a lot of shame that is a driver of the anger as a coping mechanism. It's common.

I remember when this first aired, and didn't find it useful. I think it's a great story about how Dr. Attia calmed himself down in four months, but I don't believe this is how you "stay calm in every situation." Basicallly, he recorded his outbursts and then shared them with his therapist. I feel like this is for people with serious Anger Management issues. "How To Overcome Extreme Anger Issues" would be a better title.

I agree. We updated the title to be more accurate. Thank you!

My pleasure! No wonder your channel is so good. You actually listen to your viewers. Really, there are a lot of Huberman inspired channels, but this is the best one of the bunch. The only one I'm now subscribed to.

❤ is this usable without a therapist?

Look into "Thought record" how to make a Situation-Thoughts-Feeling-Behaviour Sheet After you have an anger issue you should write down what the situation was, what kind of thoughts you had during that situation, which feelings you had, and what your behavior was during it, write down what the consequences were, that's what therapist mostly do with CBT(cognitive behavior therapy)
