Well I'm 5'0 with a tiny tiny figure. I always look like a child. I was bullied at school for over 10 years by all these tall people who looked down on me. Today, when I'm 30, everyone still looks down on me because I still look like a 11 year old. It's literally impossible to have people, especially higher ups, look at me as a capable adult

Thanks for this video. I used to feel this anxiety years ago. My anxiety came from my lack of confidence in my abilities. Once I started studying and learning regularly inside and outside of work, I felt comfortable in my own skin. In fact, I could discern between hardworking positive coworkers and the more egotistic ones. I'm still learning, but I'm in a place where I just want to do my best and network with people who feel the same.

Not only do I have social anxiety....I sucks at doing tasks / remembering how to do the next day, I’m the kind that needs to do 10000 times to remember, and I need to be thought Everyday because I forgot it the next day. I might need to take down notes.

Oh my god I’m the same. This is why I struggle to learn to drive also, I get so nervous i forget what I’m doing and by the time the next week comes for the lesson I’ve forgot what To do. Can memory be affected by anxiety? I’ve just qualified as an OT and also find myself that I should be confident now in most things I do everyday, yet it comes to each day and I have to really think about what I’m doing and forget how to get into things?

I’m a pretty confident person, but ever since I got my dream job, I started looking for approval in every single conversation. I looked for “thank you” and “this is good” even to the level when they say “this is good” instead of “great” I feel that I was short of the expectations. Work has become stressful and I was on edge all the time. I think I found one major issue and I’m going to work on not seeking approval from outside.

Anyway, I had my first shift at a small cake shop today, I was with the owner her husband and myself. Now I know what your thinking, that sounds great, well not for me. The owner spoke that was hard for me to understand, so she would not explain anything and when she did I could not understand. So I had to serve people without knowing anything, so I keep making mistakes, worry, asking questions, I had so much anxiety and it was so hard. The owner said she wanted to fire me on the first day, because I couldn't serve customers. So I ask her for a second chance and I will be working 5 more hours next week, so hopefully I can be better.

On the topic of addressing negative feelings of ones self within - I've learnt a HUGE part of career success (and success in dating, and everything else in life), is due to superior communication skills. All CEO's, leaders, and (clearly) yourself, have exceptional communication skills. When you look within yourself and you realise you don't have these skills (or at least not to a level that's leadership quality), and you realise success REQUIRES these skills, then how do you recommend such a person 'overcomes' these feelings and continues to feel valuable and not feel less worthy than 'management' that is talking to that person when that person know's he/she won't get into management with his/her level of communication skills?

@@bread5414 Well I worked there for two weeks for every weekday before quarantine (I'm 18 and its part time at a school). I definitely still was uneasy before going, Idk if its cause my new sleep schedule still needed to be broken in, as well as my new busy days. I think my anxiety turned into a nervousness and a bit of excitement sometimes, probably cause I hadn't introduced myself to a few people yet (doesnt help that i found out my crush apparently worked there and I was left outta the convo despite being cool wit everyone but her cause I'm too nervous around her) but for the people I did meet and bond with a little I was excited/comfortable to have them to talk to to feel included (not counting that one crush instance.) My anxiety was also stemmed from if the kids would listen to me or not, which they didnt a lot of the time since I'm new. By the end of the 2nd week before spring break/quarantine I was relived and made a solid foundation but I really wish I had time to pretend like I didnt know my crushes name already and introduce myself to her (she seemed a lil timid around me as well despite her goofy personality). I think things just took a little to get used to and introducing yourself and just being yourself will take it's time for you to be comfortable. Hopefully ur crush doesn't work where u are. The school year prolly wont continue but I'm sure next year or if theres a summer program my anxiety will reset as I only worked there for 2 weeks before getting COMPLETELY settled in.

@@ooo8421 oh wow.. I'll be 17 this year. I worked for about 1 week and three days before quarantine and I started work again yesterday. Luckily my crush doesn't work here (I don't have a crush) 😂 I was experiencing what might have been anxiety attacks for the past two days and I kinda made myself sick from worrying the night before last. I think it's because I've never worked at a proper job before and I'm working as an intern at a fairly large company. Right now I feel so much better than before so hopefully this will go away. Being an Entreprenure allows me to speak less on my own time having more social flexibility. I never felt comfortable, never being able to be who I am in school nor work place my whole life. At work, I need to focus on work and don’t know how to do small talks. I don’t go to company gatherings and also I enjoy spending lunch hour alone. I’ve been misunderstood my whole life. It’s not that I don’t like them, I am just doing what’s best for me by guarding my energy around people and focusing on work. In social scenes, at work place, I’m coated by social anxiety and hate being the center of attention. Due to this, I have to work much harder than naturally social people to prove that I’m a good employee because I don’t play smart with the office politics. I always feel being left out and misunderstood while everyone else building relationships, becoming closer, being forgiven countless mistakes because they are likable, and getting promoted.

And I just couldn’t bring myself to say that and I continued addressing her as ‘vous’ (formal you) and I explained to her that in my culture, we address someone with higher ranks always with respect, of course I was not gonna tell her it’s because she is older than me 😁 I struggle with social anxiety everywhere with any group of people. If it’s in public I don’t mind being around people, because I know that I’m not going to talk to these people all the time. I have had strangers insult me, out of the blue, randomly. At the moment it’s work that gets to me, because I’m trying to not make mistakes and cause conflict with others. I’ve had people in my life get angry with me, such as family members, friends, coworkers, teachers, and strangers. It’s because of aggression, that I don’t believe I can form relationships with people.

What about when you don't want to be social? I've found that I get too personal with coworkers and it ends up biting me in the butt. I have no interest in making friends at work, I just want to go in, do my job, leave, and get paid. How do you grow in a company when you don't want to kiss butt or build relationships? 😕

Same with germany authorities are treated completely differently and almost put on a pedestal, coming to n.america I didn't understand this even though I knew its different here, until you just explained it makes them feel uncomfortable. And it makes absolute sense wtf lol

I have ADHD I started as a dishwasher in my company and moved up to a cook in a month but I don’t say hi to anyone or greet them yet I’m very successful and the majority of people respect me and like me and are always chatting me up and trying to be my friend but some are haters and I just wish I knew how to communicate better but at the end of the day I feel I’m just me and I could care less about the people at work I just go to work , to work and mind my business but some people think I’m rude or just a dick cause I don’t small talk with them or try to engage them but I’m just minding my business.

I was cool at the interview but the whole officr seemed dark and had a bad vibe.. then i saw my own desk, in a corner, dark, no natural light, feels like in a coffin, ive been with no job for 8 months, maybe that s why is hard for me to come back to colleagues, idk. Im taking some benzos to cope with this.

Linda, your videos have been giving me clarity with my job search. Could you please tackle the subject of applying to multiple job offerings at the same company? Im having doubts if the job offers i see on the job sites are real or if they are even hiring (some job openings get renewed every month). I would greately appreciate your take on this overall situation.

On Craigslist you have to be kind of careful but I do is don't share your resume with everybody, I'm a smart-a##, you can either write a cover letter or a email templates on every email that you sent, alert people sell your resume nowadays. Anybody can come up with a nice looking job offer just to get your credentials. Indeed and other job web are more verified rather than Craigslist. Whatever it is it's better to share less information
