I've taken numerous classes and workshops with wonderful painters, watched endless videos online and yours is the first that focuses on a technique to paint trees that's understandable. Thank you so much for helping to open my eyes to a technique that will succeed, and to work toward my own signature strokes. I have struggled for a very long time to paint natural, realistic looking trees and am so grateful for your generosity in sharing. Thank you!

Thank you for showing this. I like the fact that you actually explain what you are doing and why you are doing it!

I really appreciate that you slowed the video playback down at the start, so that we could follow along with exactly what you were doing. Great stuff!

I read the comment below and agree wholeheartedly. What an unexpected goldmine it was to stumble onto this video of yours! I work in acrylics but can't wait to make some ponderosa pines using your 'rolling brush' technique. Thank you so much for sharing your originality. Also your video is so easy to follow, no muffled speech, no warp-speed time lapse. no shots of the back of your head or hand while doing brushwork. This is really the most helpful youtube video I came across on youtube regarding how to paint trees. I am now a subscriber and can't wait to peruse the rest of your painting videos. Again, many thanks.

Really love this tutorial will you please give the name of the brush you're using I can't seem to understand what it is you called it..Very new to painting..Thank you
Michael, I was just up on Dick Blick, but there are so many sizes and shapes *filbert, round, flat, etc) of these brushes. can you tell me more specifically what kind of brush that was you were twirling around??? Did you cut it with a razor or scissors? It has such a unique shape, narrow for the top part, then wider below that. I have never, ever seen a brush like that. Thanks.

It is a Langnickle that has been worn down by use. You can also trim a langnickle with a razor.
