I got an estimate from a painter to do the same work for me and he quoted me $350. Having seen your video and your willingness to do it yourself. Im not going to pay anyone to do the job. Im going to buy the same tools and do it myself. THANK YOU!

thank you so much for doing this. Other videoes don't actually show reaching and doing them really hard to reach places. I needed to see someone actually doing it. I never thought of using a sponge pad. This beats using a ladder and plank. thanks x

Thanks for sharing, I had already started painting my stairwell about 3/4 and was considering just calling a painter to do the rest because I couldn't reach the top but thank God for Google I came across your video. I'll just have to order the extra bits and pieces I'm sure it would be cheaper for me than paying someone and besides I can reuse these bits in the future as I get bored of walls so easily. The stairs are the only walls I ignore because of the height. God bless you for sharing 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Why only paint in the middle. Seems like the edger would hold more paint, and give you more coverage.

We just had an attic conversion done and the stairwell is built over the existing lower stairwell... the boxed off space created is a similar height to the one you just tackled. Wish me luck, going to the hardware to buy similar tools tomorrow!

I bought a good quality extension pole. It was so heavy! I ended up using the flimsy extension pole my dust mop is on, lol. Also, I painted the ceiling the same colour as the walls so I didn’t have to be so particular about straight lines. I found a holder for my paint brush and just cut in with that. It’s so high up that a person would have to have pretty good vision to be able to see any imperfections. It’s been more than ten years since I did that. Sadly, I’m gearing up to do it again.

Well done with the paint pad set, it must have taken you a long time to keep loading the pad. I have tried one in the past on a pole and found it very awkward to control, I've decided to stick with my ladder on a stair platform and brush I feel I can cut in better and have more control. But Well done you 👏🏻

Super Mom! Great job, even better persistence! So, did you try loading the edge painter from side to side rather than just center? That certainly would speed the edges up. Way to go tackling that hard job. Now I'm motivated!
@Realcoake
@Realcoake 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I found that with the edge painter if the paint got too close to the top edge, I didn't get good clean lines. It really had to be a patient project. If I understand you correctly, I don't think I tried load it from side to side, but I can tell you that if I got too much paint on it, it made for a messy job with paint running down the wall. I think if you were to load it from side to side, you'd probably get more oozing that it being helpful, but I'm not certain. Let me know if you give it a try, so I can let others know. Also, if you tackle your project, take some pics and send them to me. I'd love to see.

What length did you get in the Mr Long Arm ? My stairwell is very similar to this. I think this video convinced me I can DIY :)
@Realcoake
@Realcoake 4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you found the video helpful! I hope the project goes well for you. I believe the Mr. Longarm I bought was 8ft- 23 ft. Depending on the height of your walls, I'd recommend finding something a bit longer than this. I saw you left me a comment on my blog as well and if you saw those pictures, the pole was pretty arched at the highest heights of the wall.It made it a bit unstable. I would have rather worked with something meant for a bit taller wall. I just bought what my Lowe's had in stock. HTH!

Looks good but that tool leaves a little line at the top that normal cutting in would take care of. Guess it's risk vs reward on getting up there to do it.

At 9:29 how do you roll the bottom part of the wall? Do you take the roller off of the pole? Do you use a shorter pole?
@Realcoake

Yes, I took the roller off the long pole and just used it like a regular roller for the lower portions of the wall.

So it looks like the wall paint you’re applying is same color as ceiling , so I can’t really tell if this worked or not. Would have been more convincing if u paint wall different color than ceiling
@Realcoake
@Realcoake 25 күн бұрын
The ceiling is a white paint while the walls are gray. It is probably the poor lighting in the area that makes the walls looks the same color as the ceiling.

I am trying to tackle my hallway staircase and someone wants 200$ just to paint it 😭 I’m trying to do it the cheapest way but how do you paint the walls on edge because with the wheels I’ve noticed it leaves a gap between new paint and old paint did you get the gaps filled
@Realcoake
@Realcoake 3 жыл бұрын
I was worried about that, too. If you watch the video, I show how I loaded the edger roller. It makes a difference and it gets close enough that you can’t tell. It actually works. I did 2 coats though and would say you’ll need to in order to get the best coverage. You have to take it slow and be patient with it (that’s the hardest part.... being patient 😆). Hope I goes well for you! Someone wanted $700 to do my hallway, painting it was a total pain, but worth it in the end.

Thanks for the video. So the edger is connected to Mr. Long arm ? I ask because I have the exact same situation. I measured and the total is about 14ft but the one that you have linked on Amazon is maximum 6 to 12 ft. Thank you
@Realcoake
@Realcoake 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I connected the edger to the Mr. Long arm. You don't need a pole that is the full length. If you had that the pole would be constantly bumping into the floor. My pole was slightly too short and it made it a lot less stable to use it fully extended. I made it work, but if you can find one that is maybe 8-14 feet, that may give you the most stability as well. Just know you most likely won't need the full length, it is more about stability. HTH
