Oooof! Good job!!! Our foyer is almost exactly the same and I’m contemplating doing it myself but a bit afraid of heights. You may have inspired me to try it though. At my wits end looking at old paint!!

Been there done that. I have a very similar foyer with cased openings on either side of the entrance but I had to deal with spraying 10" high crown molding/cornice and painting the ceiling. I had to build an elaborate scaffold with various ladders and platforms. I was so scared of falling off or a structural collapse but in the end it came out really well. If I ever decide to repaint, I'll hire a contractor.

Thanks for sharing. It is a dilemma trying to tackle a project as big as this. I have a lot of drywall repair so I’m not sure I can get off as easy as going with a step ladder. Either way, I can already tell how soar my calves are going to be. I know you mentioned this. Curious if you got quotes and roughly how much did you save doing it yourself.

My house has a similar foyer. I think i will get some 2x lumber and build a platform to allow me to reach the ceiling without an extension pole. These painting gadget is a joke.

Same here, I had to build a scaffold to span the stairs and a 16' A frame ladder. Painting the ceiling was a real bitch as well as spraying the 10" high crown molding.
