Ahhh... Ever since Jason and the Argonauts, my favorite type of minion! When you previewed the new Heroquest dice Hasbro sent you, I was let down to see the smiling skull design on their faces. Too happy and smiley as if designed to NOT frighten kids. I like the old look, and the look on the faces of the original models as well. Thank you for this series. It’s given me some great ideas! The funds aren’t there to buy an old (or a new) set, but I am working on a homemade print n’ play version and hope to have completed by the holidays.

Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans (really anything Harryhausen) were some of my favourite films growing up, and my second Fantasy Battle army was undead, so I have a soft spot for the boney chaps. Good luck with your print and play project!

The skeleton did turn out well. I got the impression that Skeletons were quite popular at the time. Around the same time, GW released a set called "Skeleton Horde" which each arm with or without weapon and head were separate, and thus posable to come close to making each figure unique. I thought that this plastic kit system was a great idea. But I didn't see much evidence of taking the idea further into other types.

I was just saying in another post how I used the old skeleton boxes to build my undead army when I was a kid. The boxes I had were called Skeleton Army and had the chariot and cavalry along with the warriors. You could do scythes, hand weapons, or bows, and you could make each one look unique. They were great. Quick to paint, and a really cheap way to build massed ranks.

In my experience, wood gets lighter as it gets older, not darker. But that’s just what I’ve seen. The mini looks good.

Thanks. It actually depends on the wood; some get darker and some get lighter.

@@AlwaysBoardNeverBoring I just picked up a set of vintage Heroquest figures to add to my new Heroquest army. I primed them all yesterday and your skeleton video was a good inspiration for me.

You need to get your hands on a copy of Crypt Hunters for review

Crypt Hunters looks good, and I've previously done a bit of coverage on Lost Patrol. Unfortunately, Crypt Hunters isn't available in the UK, so at the moment I can't cover it. Hopefully that will change, but I'm not holding my breath much.

Shouldn’t you put some varnish on top? Especially if you plan to play with kids.

Yes. I use Munitorum spray varnish for most things, but also use a paint on Anti Shine from Army Painter and Stormshield from GW.
