Thank you so much for the comprehensive guide! It’s been incredibly helpful, and I can already see how much thought went into it. I can’t wait to see what’s in development next. Exciting times ahead!

I'm 78. I can't see using a parawing to go 10 or 12 miles of wind on say a maliko or Kihei downwind run. I am a fan of the foil drive. I could see using a foil drive sport battery for its lightness. I'd use the parawing to get started downwind. That should leave a huge amount of battery power for the remainder of the downwinder. It would also be nice to have the para wing as a safety backup to get back to shore. I'd like to get your thoughts on this type of setup. Aloha, Don

I think that if you can get up using a parawing then there is no need for the FD.

Nice rundown. Been kiting for 15 years, and foiling for over 6 now with small kites and a pocketboard. Was not into wing dinging as I had a bad knee and could not kneel. Have had that replaced and am looking to this new way to ride as something to shoot for. This is kind of like the holy grail for me riding bumps and swells. Problem is that Greg Drexler does not ship to Australia, and no other kites are available. I can't wait to see what comes out in the very near future and the development of this aspect. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for the kind words mate. With your experience, you will pick it up super quickly. Yes, I think there will be heaps of options in a few months time. It will be worth the wait. I absolutely love the freedom it gives you.

Hey. Reading your reply, did you have TKR? I’m in same position, need a replacement knee. Hoping for inspiration to still get out foiling post replacement. Cheers.

@@rgmacca Yes. My knee was so shot. I had it done in March. Have almost complete full flexibility now. I won't lie, it's a brutal op to go through, but worth it. Do the rehab like a religion. Bummer now is that I get frisked at every airport security :)

thanks for the info, sounds a tough process. Glad you’re working through it and giving me hope for my future injury. Hope you get to where you want to be.

Great video again! In additon to a proper dw board to learn on - what would a perfect parawing board look like? 6.10 horizon or a shorter midlength like kt super k or similar. (80kg). Thanx
@hydrofoilacademy2 ай бұрын
The perfect board is a mid length around 6ft. For me that’s 60-70L.

I have had 3 sessions with a ParaWing (background: Kitefoil, WingFoil, WakeFoil). All your comments are good. My Sessions 1. Way overpowered (5.1 m 20 kts +), 2. Under powered (4.0 m 12 kts) 3. Perfect (5.1 m 15 kts) able to ride UpWind, almost nailing Gybes, No Harness. I would also recommend First attempts 1. Go downwind, not in big waves (side shore wind best). High Aspect Foil, Board 50 L > Kg Weight and wide, 75 cm mast therefore easy to balance on and concentrate on ParaWing. I noticed you had a Kiteleash On. Do you still use it, what length do you recommend.

All good points there! Yes, I use a kite leash which attaches the bar to my harness (see my Full BRM review video for explanation). You want this relatively short. I think mine is 1m.

Nice vid. Did you try the performance settings for the bindings ? Feel any difference ?
@hydrofoilacademy2 ай бұрын
Yes, massive difference. Better in every way. Goes upwind better, greater wind range and turns easier.

How does this compare to the Foil Drive for downwinding?
@hydrofoilacademyАй бұрын
Good question! Look, I'm not a fan of using the Foil Drive for downwinding. I find going upwind in anything more than 15kts a really horrible experience. It chews up battery and its so hard to get the pod in the water in waves upwind. This is where the parawing comes into it's own. Goes up wind like a dream (its fun to do) and you can position yourself in the best possible place. So, in my view, there is no comparison. The parawing beats FD and wing packdowns everyday of the week for self positioning DW runs. The only area of DW it doesn’t dominate is traditional offshore big sends. This should be left for SUP DW in my view.

Hi, what sport do you prefer... parawing, wing, dw ?
@hydrofoilacademy2 ай бұрын
It all depends on the conditions for the day. That’s the beauty of doing them all. That being said I’m really enjoying the parawing right now.
