Great stuff! I've been practicing the martial arts for over 60 years but I still remember the boxing lessons I received from my dad when I was a kid. This stuff takes me back. Love it! :)

Great stuff! Roberto Duran was a master at parrying. Remember him trying to teach Shane Mosley that.

George Foreman was great at parrying punches.

Very cool, thanks. That kind pary that also disbalances the opponent and sets up a counter attack is a bit reminiscent of what one other sees in some Asian martial arts. Logical and i hope to see more pros starting to reincorporate these sort of moves.

That second parry,both right hands coming. Be quick!

Exactly. He doesn't know what you're going to do. That's to your advantage.

I was taught a version of that second parry, it's more off putting than it looks until you are on the receiving end . Your rear shoulder actually gets thrown backwards , like you just tripped over your threshold because it's unexpected , making it very hard to fire the cross.

It's a bit like wing chun trapping and feeling out drills but without the confines of the tradition

Learning boxing from a KZbin video is probably no better than wing chun.

2:45 That’s why I don’t believe people who say Marciano couldn’t handle the big jabbers in their prime, like Louis, Liston, Ali, Foreman and Holmes. They were all great heavyweights, but with Marciano’s power and courage, you can’t just dismiss him. He’s my inspiration.,

one question please, if you are southpaw , what hand do you use to parrying ?.
@FranksNobleArt12 күн бұрын
@juanjosefernandezparedes8469 You parry with your back hand, in the case of a southpaw, that's the left hand. However, it doesn't work well against an orthodox boxer, so best use the back han to block his punches.
You cannot learn boxing from KZbin videos. You need to go to a decent amateur club to learn how to parry. You need to move around with someone of similar ability/size. Both taking turns to jabs. When you don't know they are coming. Then you get used to reading the punch. Trying to do all this while standing still is pointless.

Should you ever try to parry the right cross? Or is that a no no?
@dennit122117 күн бұрын
Boxers like Liston, foreman, Pep, Duran etc rather stopped the cross than trying to parry Think that is most likely safer
@FranksNobleArt17 күн бұрын
@jamesalandixon You can't parry the cross, but you can block ot by moving your back hand over.
