It’s true what Rob says, as a self taught 71 year old “guitarist”, Cavatina was a favourite of my wife’s & I decided to learn it for her 50th birthday & yes it took me well over a year to get it off to a listenable standard so she didn’t get “the present” until she well over 50. I try to pick my guitar up every day & play something that I have struggled to learn just to make sure that I don’t forget where my fingers have to go because,trust me, like most things in life, if you don’t use it, you lose it

I had all but given up trying to play this piece, content that I couldn't learn it because the tutorials are all badly done and fail to explain how to get your fingers around the thing. Now I have discovered this tutorial I have got to sit down and try to learn the Bl...... thing all over again. Best guitar tutorial on KZbin.

the best advice given for playing cavatina iv'e not heard on youtube until now,, you don't have to hit the cord shapes straight away add fingers as you go otherwise you will probably not progress from 1st chord shape to the second chord.

Hi Fennah. I have only just found your KZbin site by accident. I was looking for a tutorial for Apache and you came up. I have had a look through and now subscribed to your channel. I have been playing a few months now and learned some open chords which I will need some time. The trouble is I can’t sing so want to play instrumentals which I have started to plat Apache, still slow as it takes longer to sink in with me. I started a bit late in life wanting to learn guitar but can play a little, it is only for myself but enjoy what I am learning. I am 72 so don’t know if I will ever play perfect or not but I will have a good try hopefully. Thank you very much from me to you because I like your approach to your teaching method. From your voice I know you are English but obviously don’t know if you still live on the UK or not. I am from Warrington Cheshire, you will probably know where that is. Anyway I won’t bore you to death any longer, but once again a big thank you from me and others that watch you or have lessons with you. Take care and best regards. Chas.

I've been trying to play this for YEARS. Started over a decade ago but spend many years not playing. Finally come back to it and really struggling with finger strength for those barres... Particularly bar 3 covering the 9th fret. Do you have any advice? Makes me want to give up again because I just feel hopeless! (Thanks for providing such an amazing and free tutorial - wish I lived a bit closer to come for some lessons!!)
@NylonStrings832 жыл бұрын
Frankly if u can’t do it for so long u need to learn the proper technique for barre chords it’s all about balancing the left hand weight it must be light as a feather
@nataliem42882 жыл бұрын
@@NylonStrings83 I don't think I necessarily have an issue with technique, but I do have small hands and I think struggle to have the strength in my index finger - for me, barre chords are fine lower down the frets and when they span about 3 frets with the other finger positions, but when I need to stretch further than that I just can't apply enough strength onto the fret I need to barre with my index finger :( do you still think that could be technique?

I must disagree with you concerning tab, Rob. I find it quite easy to visualize the chord shapes when reading Cavatina in Tablature ( of course also need the standard music above it to correctly read the rhythm of the piece) ....mind you, I've been reading standard music notation along with tablature for over 30 years now.
@fennahrob69342 жыл бұрын
Each to their own. I’ve posted my performance, arranged by John Williams, which was worked out without standard guitar notation. Tab is okay but, as I said, the chord shapes in a difficult grade 8 piece like Cavatina prevents many from playing it. (Unless they invest years in learning to read guitar music or… do it my way). 👍🏻
