I sure would love to have more tutorials on some of the classic country songs and ballads out there like this... There's a ton of ukulele tutorials for just about every other genre, but there doesn't seem to be very many for the pure country style and folk songs out there. We need you to make that happen!! Come on - you're the man!

I love adding extra colors once the basic structure is understood. Ps. That’s a classic trick for any key (The last chord of the Beatles she loves you is a 6th chord real colorful harmony at the end 😉)

I like the loft! V-groove #2 Sterling Pine (aka knotty pine) finished with amber shellac - that’s my guess. Pine is a soft wood that’s good for acoustics and has a rich, warm feeling. Nicely done!

Good eye Robert!! I don’t know much of anything about woodworking but I have heard that pine is good for acoustics… There’s a hardwood on the floor that helps reflect the sound as well.

I'm a beginner, with beginner's questions. Why did you choose this version of D7 instead of the one where you bar the second fret? This question has sent me down a rabbit hole. Am6? Is that the proper name for this chord? Hawaiian D7? 2020/2223/5655, I just learned about numbers like this. Is it a matter of what sounds right for the song? Thanks for any assistance. I'm really helped by these beginner lessons.

Hi Beverly, glad you’re being helped by my lessons! I chose this voicing of D7 for two reasons: 1. It is easier to play than the bar D7 for beginners… And I know many folks who watch my videos are just starting out. I also offer more challenging lessons, but to get everyone playing a song like this I thought it would be best to choose that easier fingering. 2. The pointer in the middle finger part in the same relative position when moving from G to D7… Thus making the chord changes easier.
