+Snjólaug Vera she's kind of like playing the base note with her thumb and then just messily playing the rest of the strings with her other 4 fingers. You play the base note, which is always the e string (We'll call it B) and then the rest which we'll call R. so it's B, R, B, R, R, B, R. It's not really strumming, more like plucking but you're more running your fingertips over the strings haha. I hope that made sense. It took me forever but you'll get it.

Depends on if you're strumming. If you are then strain away if you're finger picking like she is in this video think of it as the thumb taking care of the lower pitch 3 strings and the other three fingers take care of the higher pitch 3 strings. This is just a basic like starting point kind of like finger picking but it's something you learn to do over time. DON'T GIVE UP YOU CAN DO IT C:

Why on earth would anyone give this a thumbs down? Anyway, Dodie: You did a fine job of demonstrating the song without standard music notation or tabs. However, I'm sure you would benefit greatly from learning to read and write music. It's not hard. If you can learn the times tables you can learn how to deal with reading notes. It's really not that hard. But even if you don't learn to read notes I still say that you have the gift of music. You have a good ear, great talent for songwriting, and a lovely, lovely voice. So keep making music!

I think it is kind of like this: Down Up Down Up Up Down Up But down is just the 6th string and up is the 3rd, 4th and 5th strings. It's kind of a strumming plucking hybrid.

doddleoddle Playing the same chords in standard tuning is actually a lot less moving up and down the fret board, but I love that your style of playing keeps the low strings in the chords bc it sounds so much warmer! Normally I don't tune my guitar differently unless I have to, but you've got me hooked on this tuning!

Hailey Sterling I found that plucking the first sting, then the third and just strumming the last three strings sounds similar . But she kind of makes up rhythms, so you can go along with whatever feels right. And it still sounds okay! Well, okay-ish in my case.

If people want to play it without changing the tuning I found playing a D with F sharp and G for the chorus and then Bm, D (with F sharp) and G with A, G for the last line for the chorus works okay :) Obviously it's not as pretty as it is this way but it sounds pretty similar :)

there's an app i use called guitar tuna for standard tuning i love it. it's free

The tuning for Open D is (from Low E to High e) : D A D f# a d. The tuning for Standard Tuning is (what every guitar is usually tuned to) : E A D g b e I would use an app to make sure it's correct or buy an actual clip-on tuner. I don't think they're super expensive.

I was too. I used to cry every time I broke a string, no joke. Just go slow when you're tuning back up to Standard Tuning, especially on the e string because it can break the easiest. Even if a string does break, you can buy a new one for 2$ or so at your local music/guitar shop.
