This character has so many tools that when “optimized” (by that I mean like 1-3 months) could be insane. Mythra neutral b combos/tech chases will be found/improved; I’m sure there’ll be even more footstool setups found out besides Pyra side b; and I am SURE that there will be a mythra 0-death that if it isn’t true, will be very hard to escape with their speed and frame data.

pyra alone is not the worst character in the game, she's a swordsman so her high range and disjointed hitboxes, instantly make her better than alot of characters. Also her attacks linger so it's really easy to create a wall of fire by using forward and back air, and her down air on landing is super good as well. And if that wasn't enough she has an infinite with her side b to footstool, so she can zero to death people if you throw in a jab to lock them in knock down and do it on repeat and then the jab lock is long enough to land a semi charged forward smash that kills at 50% too.

Have to say Leff I think you are wrong personally. I think Pyra is what makes this character so strong. You have to respect her hitboxes so much and almost all her moves kill past 90%. Even nair is incredibly strong. Mythra on the other hand is pretty weak. She’s good for racking up damage early but has 0 kill potential aside from her fsmash and neutral B. Yes I know that pyra is meant to finish the kills but honestly without the danger that pyra is at medium to high percent I think the character would be bad - Even considering Mythra’s foresight. Also Mythra’s air mobility is bad in comparison to pyra’s. Put together they’re strong for sure but in all honesty I wouldn’t be surprised to see people just staying pyra in pro play.

Mythra's counter technique reminded me a lot of a mechanic I absolutely loved from Battlerite. The game gave almost every character some form of a counter, all of them doing something different based off the character, some counters provided stealth, others pulled in the target, others gave invulnerability, a massive element of that game is tracking the cooldown on your opponents counter and trying to get them to waste it. One of the key ways you could do this was a straight up cancel button. If you're charging in ability, mid attack or whatever you could press a button and stop the move, which made a lot of neutral engagements a lot about really trying to get into your opponents head and make them second guess when a move would be a fake or not.

Pyra's/Mythra's recovery (up-special and side-special) is very exploitable. Since they go into free fall after their recovery activates, you can use Mario's Fludd, Squirtle's water gun or Greninja's up-special (or really an character with a wind pushing move) to invalidate their chances of making it back to the stage. I gimped a few players with Squirtle, but the timing is hard so gimping Pyra/Mythra is a real challenge.

The crazy things to me about Pyra and Mythra, are: -The "insight" slow frames are good - The charged B's for both Pyra and Mythra are fairly safe on shield -Both have some clean 2 hit combos which is nice (which both can string into the other characters string) ----- Top players also need to consider playing Pyra in neutral as well. You can throw off your opponents timing and spacing, and punish their defensive gameplay Mythra pushes onto them, using Pyra's zoneing tools. Regardless, good vid Lef and editors

I'll say this much, both characters are very good and are even better when you know how to switch between them as well as when to switch between them. I will say though that Pyra is probably going to be better for doubles where she can take advantage of having a teammate that's got a very good combo game but doesn't have the raw kill power to act as that kill power. Although I think both of them end up working well together especially if you know what type of play style or what type of character your opp is. But that's just my take on the character since (and I know you sometimes don't like the buffers) it's useful to actually use down B as a tool in it's own right for somethings where switching between the two ends up dealing more damage.

While I generally prefer playing trap based characters (Link, Pacman, Steve etc.) I love that they included something for the rushdown style players. I think they've done a great job balancing the characters for different playstyles. I think Mythra will be used at higher level play and Pyra for lower level, so all skill levels get something from this character. Foresight might turn out to be a bit broken though, we shall see.

Fun fact: Mythra's rapid jab has more range than Pyra's, making it overall better for damage despite doing less damage per hit. Also, Mythra's rapid jab finisher KOs at roughly 180% iirc.

I’d like to say that it’s possible to two frame with pyras fsmash and her dash attack hits incredibly far off the stage which can kill at lower percents (Edit) Pyra does have really good uses other than just a kill. Especially to rack up damage when you have an advantage, edge guard with side b, and use the invincibility to its max- basically a non-directional air dodge and you keep your air dodge after useful if you get hit off stage and are Pyra since you can avoid an attack and then recover. Mythra is still better tho

Bad recovery is something that none of the top tier characters have, so I rather doubt that Pyra/Mythra is going to be anything above High Tier entirely because of Mythra. The problem is that even Mythra's recovery is meh compared to the top tiers.
