Thanks for the clear concise video. I’m a big fan of the CeriGlass and CarPro rayon pads. I had a 25 year old Jeep that sat outside probably all it’s life and had really bad water spot etching. Used the CarPro products on a PC 7424 and it was a bit of work but removed 100% of them.

Been using CeriGlass & rayon pad for water spots and glass maintenance for a few years now ... then apply your glass coating. I use the CeriGlass in my home on shower glass 👍🏽 To get glass polished to a level of corrected perfection have to use water mist - CeriGlass - rayon pad - low polish spreed - repeat ... it is just a PITA.

Water spots were easy, but now I can see all the scratches. Time to get it masked off and really spend some time getting a lot of the pitting/scratches out. I'm definitely sealing it after and adjusting my sprinklers this Spring.

Glass is a mongrel to work with. You can spend up to an hour just in one small area. You must use the Rayon pad, a sponge interface pad if your backing plate is the rigid type and Ceriglass. You also need to mist the area with water as you go to keep the temperature down and use a fresh top up of Ceriglass with each pass. You'll probably do around 20 sets to effectively remove etching and mild abrasion such as wiper blade defects. Those scratches you can feel with your nail, will not come out.

For any scratches you can catch a nail in, you'll Def have to wet sand. Start at 600 to be conservative but will most likely have to jump to 400,220,180. Just did my side rear Chevelle glass, came out great but needed 180 on a 3" polisher to get the deep ones out. Pretty time consuming having to go all the way back up the grits to 600/800 before hitting with Ceri and a 3" rayon. Prob have an honest 90 minutes on just the one window

@@OBS.Rey__if it's one or 2 medium scratches it's not that bad. If there's alot of deep ones from morons scratching it up with sandpaper from bodywork it's HOURS and HOURS. Quite understandably most guys just replace the glass at that point. And don't expect to get results using the Cerium glass polish like you would using a paint compound, u have to put ALOT on each time and keep it sludgy and thick. If u put little dabs like a paint polish it won't do crap

@jdisdetermined
@jdisdetermined 3 жыл бұрын
Not too aggressive at *all* the rotary is all I use for glass. You'll be there for hours otherwise if you're after actual scratches. Glass is crazy hard, really nothing is too aggressive. The only real worry is heat warping. Just keep the polisher moving and you'll be fine. Use some heavy pressure along with a spray bottle of water. Cerium abrasives don't disintegrate like paint specific abrasives. So your polish is going to dry out long before the abrasives are spent. I keep the speed around 3, just so the polish doesn't dry out as fast. Check out Autogeeks live training glass polishing video. That's exactly how I do it, and exactly what I use. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmKYn2p3ib-jjNU If you're just going after light scuffs, etching, stains, etc., you can get it done with standard paint correction stuff. But actual defects, you need glass specific materials.

My car has tiny specks all over the windshield that are super visible in the direct sun light. When I run my nail over them I cannot feel anything. Glass is as smooth as new. Any idea what caused them and how I can get them removed? Car is 2018 BMW. Your response is greatly appreciated. Thanks
@whiskkers9291
@whiskkers9291 3 жыл бұрын
In my experience if its the same small specks I think you're talking about is nothing more then many micro chips in the glass. This is usually caused by sand coming from dump trucks or catching the road grit that comes with interstate driving and being close to the car in front of you; basically you're sand blasting your windshield. Polishing helps a lot because it wears down all those jagged edges that reflect the sunlight. This of course is on a microscopic level. It's smooth to the touch but under a microscope it would probably look more like some jagged rock formation. All of those edges reflect light back at you making them visible and appear to be little sparkling dots. Polish with a rayon pad and use an actual glass polish of some sort. Like he said in this video, don't over heat the glass, doing so breaks down the PVB layer in the glass and can cause distorted vision and all kinds of weird effects. Just be patient with it and take small breaks after a few passes to allow the glass to cool gradually and you will be OK. Hope this helps, maybe someone else can offer some insight in case I'm way off base but this has helped me and several of my clients in the past; I also detail vehicles.

Just use cerium oxide. It's cheaper and much better at polishing than whatever any manufacture sells you

When using rotary polisher on car windows is it required to spray water from time to time? I want to try ceriglass on my car windows and the one i have is rotary polisher.. Or do i need to buy expensive dual action polisher?this is my first time to try polishing car windows.. thank you..

A rayon pad isn't strong enough for glass scratches. You would probably need a copper pad or similar, used for polishing marble/granite. haha

Hitting a whole windshield takes 3 to 4 hours of continuous high pressure polishing. It’s a waste to buy these products if you’re not willing to use them to their fullest potential. Just work all the damn scratches out.

I tend to do it over a few sessions because it takes so long. Hour here, hour there and just keep reducing them.
