Credit where it’s due: this drill is hugely inspired by the work of incredible drum educator Dom Famularo. Met him at the UK Drum Show last September and he’s a legend! Mike :)

That was exactly the lesson I needed! I *had* been struggling with this, and no matter how much I slowed it down, it still felt wrong. But the combination of the explanation and the drill has definitely got me on the right track to feel as though I'm achieving something when I practice it now. Thanks!

I prefer you and your program over Drumeo, those guys are super confusing with so little help and it overwhelms the drummers so much and you are so DIRECT and FUN to learn from. Im really loving your teaching. Thank you so much for your lessons and help ❤

I have a question about this: Should I work on increasing the bpm of my practice on this over time or stick with the same speed and work on stick height for more power?
@MikeBarnesDrums
@MikeBarnesDrums 2 жыл бұрын
I generally just vary it - slow one day, moderate another, close to my improvement zone on another etc. I like to change it up rather than constantly just working upwards, that's where the SLOW-FAST-SLOW comes in anyway :)

Thanks for this, your point about students ‘I’m struggling with this’ and your response ‘you’re not, you are just getting started and it takes time to drill’ is a great way to frame this, helpful for me anyway. 👍

Am I right in thinking the sequence for the two handed triplet is; R. Whip. 1 L. Up. Trip R. Tap. Let L. Whip. 2 R. Up. Trip L. Tap. Let And repeat? Does that make sense? Really appreciate your content, thanks.

Hi Mike, first of all love your content it helps me do much. I wanted to ask what the best electronic kit is for a beginner in your opinion. I have a acoustic kit aswell but me and my both play so it's kind of hard on my neighbours. My price range is around 500 euro's. Keep up with the great work!!
@MikeBarnesDrums
@MikeBarnesDrums 4 жыл бұрын
Cool! Thank you for watching and so glad you've found these videos helpful. For that price range, the clear winner for me is the Yamaha DTX432K - www.thomann.de/gb/yamaha_dtx432k_e_drum_set.htm It's very sturdy, well built and has a proper kick drum pedal, unlike lots of others in that range. Cheers!
