This is great "basic" info that I needed. Reassurance on some of my techniques as well as Cold v Warm rice. I would never have thought about suing 2 different grains of rice. Texture is a flavor 🤣 Good stuff Brudda

Same like what we did in the hibachi noodles video. A little oil to coat the rice before you cook it on the grill.

In your expert opinion Is overcooked rice still ok for fried rice? Left the rice on for a bit too long and it became extremely stick it... i stuck it in the fridge overnight to try to dry it out.. im just afraid the grains will break and turn to mush if i fry it
@thebackyardhibachi
@thebackyardhibachi 2 ай бұрын
Most likely it will be too mushy and won’t separate into grains.

Why add butter to the rice cooker? Just for flavor?
@thebackyardhibachi
@thebackyardhibachi 7 ай бұрын
Aroma, you can stir it in after the rice is finished and hot.

@@thebackyardhibachi ive always wondered what restaurants do. When i made mine when i had it refrigerated before i put it on my blackstone, it has a different texture. Almost harder texture compared to restaurant. So you are saying you put warm/hot rice on flat top when you’re about to make fried rice?

I noticed that your cold rice was wrapped in plastic for storage in the fridge. I was under the impression that it had to be cooled while spread out on a pan so the moister could evaporate. This method, however, leads to some hard, dried up grains of rice. Does it work just as well to wrap it up and chill like you did? Would like to get rid of the hard grains from drying in the open.
@thebackyardhibachi
@thebackyardhibachi Жыл бұрын
Wrap it in a bowl while it’s hot, and poke holes in the wrap so the air can escape. Let the rice cool down for a little bit then wrap it and store in the fridge.

Man thanks for the video! I originally asked for it 8 months ago. And you did it! Never got a notification. I'm here again bc my wife bought me a 36in Blackstone for my birthday a couple of days ago. I have had a small 22in before and there just wasn't enough room lol. So tonight I'll prep my rice and watch your other videos. Hopefully I get it all right. Btw what temp do you keep your grill at? Is it high heat the whole time?

Why would my rice still be sticky and mushy after being in the fridge for a couple days? I tried breaking it up like you did in the video and it just stayed in a clump. Please help! Love your videos. Super helpful.
@thebackyardhibachi
@thebackyardhibachi Жыл бұрын
Could be a few things or a combination of these. 1. Too much water when cooking 2. Not washing the rice well enough 3. Covering the rice too soon after it cooks.

@@thebackyardhibachi definitely not the second. I washed the white off those things. I thought that was it to begin with. I will definitely pay attention to the water when cooking and let it sit for a bit before adding the wrap. Thank you for the help.
