I am a black woman and a first-generation graduate student earning my M.A in Elementary Education. I can agree with everything that you said especially about the financial stressors. Additionally, my Master's program is 100 % online which poses another struggle of feelings of disconnection. Luckily, I have access to mental health care via my PCP with medications and a licensed therapist. I love your video! Keep up the good work! We, as black women, need more solidarity in places like grad school.

Dr. Tasha, Which year of residency did you personally find to be the most physically/mentally overwhelming?

Great question. Typically PGY2 year is seen as a challenging year. There’s more responsibility and more difficult rotations like consults and night float. It was definitely a challenging year, but I made it through!
