I bought my 2014 CTS V-Sport (same 3rd gen CTS and key fob as yours) with one remote only. This one remote seems to not be assigned a driver as my memory seats do not automatically go to position like they should. I have to manually push or hold (if in drive) the seat position number I want every time I drive the car. The easy exit feature works as expected. Should I follow this and essentially wipe and start over or is there another way to just tell the car my sole fob is for driver one?

You can use this procedure to re-program the remote that you have and it will set it as driver 1 as all previous remotes will be erased.

@@PYR-Auto So I just got a second key fob to have as a backup and was going to reset and have my first one as driver one and backup as driver two. When I did the five key swipes to the left, I got this message, "Ready for remote 4" How do I wipe out the current three which I do not have in my possesion?

I have a 2019 XTS an I have a key fob from a 2018 I previously owned how can I clear it, reset or put the 2018 key fob in pairing mode so I can program it to the 2019 XTS as spare key fob

These fobs lock to a vehicle once programmed and need to be unlocked by someone with the correct equipment before they can be programmed to different vehicle.

I’m trying to work with these steps on my 2016 Cadillac CTS (a bit different than the model in your video). I finally got a new battery in my car after it sat for 2 years. The car will turn on while the fob is in the center console transmitter spot, but not with the fob buttons nor will it lock or unlock. SO I’m trying to reprogram the key, BUT because I have to open and close the door to get the dash to turn on, the alarm starts going off and it doesn’t seem to stop with a specific technic, it just stops eventually 🥴😩. I’m gonna take the fob to a key person tomorrow to see if something is wrong, but I’m just reaching out for help of anyone has had this issue?

What if you don't have the cut key? Can you still somehow enter programming mode to add a fob? My friend lost hers but she has the second fob that works and only wants to add a new one.

You will need the emergency key to use the onboard programming procedure otherwise a dealer or locksmith will be needed

You can use this procedure. If you look at the instructions that are in the description box for video, you will just repeat steps 4-6 for each remote. You will need to have your working remote far enough away from the car so it cant be read to get the vehicle into programming mode.

Not to keep beating a dead horse but since I have on remote already programmed, do I just start with steps 4-6 with the new remote and if so how do I get to the learn part in step 4 or do i need to start all over. Because when I put the new remote in the pocket, the screen is reading "No remote was detected".

Do the procedure just as its done it the video. When you get to step 6 (according to the instructions in the description box) but before you hold down the stop/start button to exit programming mode go back to step 4 for your "old" remote, you need to reprogram it back in. then when you're done adding remotes hold down the stop/start button for at least 12 seconds to exit programming mode. If you are already doing that and getting a message that says "no remote detected" during the procedure, then there may be an issue with the remote.

I did this and it worked but I got some unexpected bonus material. After programming FOB1 the car prompted to program FOB2. I think maybe I didn't hold the start/stop button for an honest 12 seconds to exit programming mode.. After that, when I get into the car it doesn't want to start unless I once again hold the start button for 12 seconds. I can sit in the driver seat and repeatedly stop and start the engine. After I get out of the car, shut the door and the auto lock engages, then I unlock with the remote and get back in, it's the whole 12 second thing all over again along with the 'service theft deterrent system' message. So I'm having two minor inconveniences. The 12 second thing and trying to figure out how to reset the theft deterrent system.

This would be the only procedure - some vehicles only show that message for a few seconds right when the door is opened

I know this is an old video. I hope you still check in on these comments though. My key is destroyed all I have is my cut key from it. Does this mean I can buy a new remote transmitter and follow your steps and it should be fine? (It's a 2016 cts vsport) I'd hate to buy a transmitter and it not work for me.

The order in which you program the fobs in determines what number the vehicles recognize them as. ( first remote programmed is driver one, second remote programmed in is driver 2, etc.) If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, you need to repeat steps 4-6 for each remote, after the first remote is programmed.
