Dear Willie, Please don't talk about Chefs as if you know what you're talking about. I come from a kitchen background and every good Chef I know owns their establishment. You know what it takes to be a Chef? You have to work your way up. Every good chef I know, probably bartended along with just about every other job related to the industry. It's like this Willie. Those Chefs have passion for what they do and they worked hard for it. You wanna know something else Willie? The Chef has to market their own restaurant. They're in charge of everything. They're in business for themselves, just like good artists who promote the hell out of their work. Kindly piss off with your immature attitude and let those who want to become professional do just that, be a professional through hard work, dedication, training, education, perseverance, discipline, the ups, the downs and everything else it takes to actually make something of themselves; be that a bartender, janitor, chef or musician. Good luck out there son, you'll need it.

One of my best friend is a chef and the hard work this kid has been through and the amount of years and dedication is insane. Haha dude your description of the core frustration you have with the haters (like "Willy") enlightened me as to what exactly my frustration is with the music scene in my city. After 2 1/2 years of playing every month or so, attending open mics, HOSTING open mics, and releasing material - my band seems to be excluded from every local event or festival that my friends' much younger bands are invited to play. I even got severely depressed this week after a few peers had the GALL to complain about being offered "Too many gigs." This video helped me realize that I'm not really pissed off at the scene, I'm pissed off at MYSELF for my OWN unnecessary self-pity. I need to market to our fans better - nobody else does. I need to seek out opportunities for the band - nobody owes us anything. It really is just like my dad always told me: "There ain't no law against WORK." Cheers - and thanks for the perspective.

Whats up Adam, I really appreciate your time and your videos. This one was super raw and I loved it. I wanted to share an idea with you. Maybe you might want to do a video on it. I can explain the idea quickly but there's much more to it. Here I go. I dont like using buzzwords but im going to use one now, so forgive me. I have a "cheat code" to creating content/knowing what to talk about The cheat code is called the Content Wheel Essentially, you begin by listing out your top 5 interests. These interests will serve as your topic wheel. The topic wheel is what you pick from to post content about. Here's the premise behind this all. So many artists get caught in the trap of thinking they should ONLY be posting about music Or worse...their own music I assume this gut reaction comes from one of two places A super inflated ego Or a true and innocent ignorance of the content creation They think that the more they talk about music or their own music, the more of a chance they'll have. Whatever that chance means... Maybe this isn't what they're thinking, and perhaps the majority just dont know what to post about. This is the purpose that the content wheel serves. The reason you pick 5 topics is that everyone in this world naturally has more than just one interest What's even better is when the law of attraction kicks in. People are usually gathered together based on interests (whether at events, organizations, classes, etc.) These same people are also likely to have some sort of affinities to other interests that you have Therefore, it only makes sense to express and post about different interests Chances are your audience feels the same way that you do about basketball, games, and fishing Now it may not be the majority that have the same interests BUT, the ones that you do share your other interests with will immediately feel a stronger connection with you There's more to the content wheel that I'd love to explain to you! Would love to carry on this conversation with you, hear your thoughts and critiques. Again, wonderful video and a huge thanks for your work here on your channel.

I've been working on getting my music out there since I love what I'm making and want to share it with others and only started to get into marketing and accepting that it's a part of putting your music out there as a small, independent musician. However, I've come across too many people whose advice just doesn't resonate with me, whether it's that they give poor advice to surface-level things like click-bait titles in all caps. This video blew me away despite not having marketing tips because you really hammered home how important marketing a product is. I really liked how you mentioned that you can't put this into a template. It makes sense since marketing for my music wouldn't fit for someone who's doing country or metal or who lives in a different country from me. The creative side of me wants to eschew marketing and business but you made me realize the importance of developing both sides and who knows, maybe the marketing process can be fun in itself! This is the first video of your channel I've come across but you really made such an impression. Did you take any public speaking classes in the past? You would be great at giving speeches. Anyways, I'll be spending some time watching your other videos now :)

Bro!You speaking truth's!I use to be like how you described Willie and slowly realized from being backed by a music label that being under a music label Doesn't Do Shit For You!After getting out of that I realized doing it yourself is way harder, but also more rewarding, because at the end of the day you gain knowledge in places you didn't have it,and you get to keep all the money that comes from it.So people level up!
