24 years ago while in the police academy, my firearms instructor and local Sheriff’s armorer, taught us to use exactly 5 drops of oil on the Glock 19. Each drop was put on our finger and smeared on the lube points. Then, each point was wiped with a patch to remove the oil. As a novice, I figured this was far too little oil and decided to lube it the way I felt appropriate. Shortly thereafter, I began having failures which were directly the result of my over oiling. My instructor made short work of explaining my mistakes to me in front of the other cadets! He’s likely dead now but to this day, my issued Glock gets lubed the exact way he showed us back in 2000. Any failures I get now are due to cheap range ammo. Lesson: use much less than you think you need on a Glock.

Do not put oil in the firing pin/striker channel. Glock manual says rails, barrel lug, hood and trigger bar. Oiling the striker channel can cause light primer strikes and gunk it up.

No lubricant in striker channel. Run it dry. Check your striker frequently. Empty the gun of ammunition, rack the slide and pull the trigger. Now take the gun and shake it up by your ear. Hear the little clink,clink,clink? Your striker is moving freely as it should. That's all I have to say about that !

DUDE, Glock specifically says DO NOT PLACE ANY LUBE whatsoever in the striker assembly!!! NONE, ZERO, ZILTCH!!! Also, lubing the extractor is a bad idea on a Glock too. Go to the factory in Smyrna and they will tell you right there that what you’re doing in this video is a “no-go.”

Can't speak for them. I tend to go with the boresnake and keep my life simple. I find that 9 out of 10 times she does the job on the barrel with the first punch. I use patches if I need to really give the weapon a solid cleaning and reach into the small spots. Most of the time, if I am cleaning after just a few mags for example, I use a toothbrush and q-tips then a rag. Hoppes 9 for the parts and Lucas Gun Oil for the rails and friction points.

Enjoyed watching the video but I dont do some of this personally. Even with the gun/guns that arent carry. I keep them more tip-top. Cant imagine putting 1000 or more rounds through a carry gun without cleaning, unless it was at one shooting, lol. My guns run cleaner than this but I do spend more time cleaning and lubing.

I think it heavily depends on the gun also. Been carrying for a long time and never had an issue with cleaning my Glock or S&W every few range trips, but just got a cheaper 9mm Stoger and it started jamming pretty bad after only the 2nd trip to the range. Maybe 200 rounds in. Definitely cleaning that after each trip to the range. The jams were extremely difficult to clear also. Had to drop the mag every time.

The problem with using oil in all of those places is it will migrate if left in one orientation for an extended period of time (like a holster on your waist). That’s why I prefer spreading a very light film of grease on some of those friction points like barrel and rails and put a dab of oil on others

The chaotic atmosphere created by some of the residents in my apartment complex has left me feeling profoundly unsafe. It's unsettling enough that I found myself reconsidering my staunch beliefs on gun control. In all my years, I've never felt this level of gratitude for the Second Amendment as I do now, especially after moving here due to the constraints of my low income. In response to my fear, I made a conscious decision to hang a bold sign on my door, clearly warning my neighbors that I possess a firearm and that I would not hesitate to utilize it for my protection if the need arises. This is a significant shift for me, and it reflects just how alarming my living situation has become. One of the key reasons I started looking for instructional videos to maintain my new purchase online was my concern about ensuring that my gun operates flawlessly when it matters most. I wanted to be prepared for any situation, particularly for the worst-case scenario where a jammed firearm could have dire consequences. It's a troubling mental space to be in, but I feel it's necessary given the circumstances I've encountered here.

@michaeljohn7467 Жыл бұрын
You should clean your new guns you buy before you shoot them I bought a new Springfield 9mm n cleaned it n there was some rust in the top inside slide part, don't know how it got there? Every time I clean new guns the barrels are dirty Now it's not going to damage your gun if you do shoot some rounds without cleaning it first as long as the gun isn't damaged n put together properly, but it is good to just clean it whether it is a new or used gun you buy, you never know what the situation is with it until you take it apart n clean it n check it out, so you can catched any problems with it before you shoot it, you don't want any serious issues with guns before you shoot them, guns can be dangerous shooting at times if damaged to much, one thing that can happen is something can come out n hit your eyes n damage them Also wear hearing n eye protection when shooting

I don't understand the growing trend among gun owners to let their guns stay dirty for thousands of rounds. Does it improve the gun somehow or is it just laziness? It never hurts to keep your gun clean. And people who use the word "Lube" typically overdo it. I don't use any lube on my guns, just a micro film of oil on the necessary parts. Watch a video called "How to Oil and Lubricate Your Gun (and how NOT to)" by GunBlue490.
@J7Handle
@J7Handle Жыл бұрын
The point of lubricant is mainly to prevent wear and tear. I'm sure most handguns cycle fine without lubricant, but there will be a minor increase in wear on the slide rails and potentially other parts, so I lubricate my slide rails with a thin film. Also, if your handgun isn't cycling properly, lubrication may be a solution. I was having FTFs for a while and tried to polish and lubricate the feed ramp and magazine feed lips, though in the end I still had to fill the magazines to -1 capacity (slightly stiff magazine springs, I guess, they were new mags, so maybe after breaking in they would preform better. I can try full mags again later).

Most people use Remoil incorrectly and then say it's too thin. It's not about viscosity: you're supposed to leave it on (cleaned) frictional contact surfaces for one minute, then wipe it all off completely. Then its nano-Teflon particles fill in the microscopic imperfections of the metal surfaces. You are not supposed to run WET with it.

for oil, I use lucas or automotive oil. The composition itself is literally the same concept, preferably mobil, shell, or amsoil. In fact I believe amsoil does make oil specifically for guns. Unlike other oils, it is unclear what is the composition and what chemicals they use. I have heard both lubricant companies for guns and skateboard bearings just buy a barrel of oil and just refine it or add some premixed blend and then slap a label on it. Hardly any quality control or testing. Roflmao. Oil doesnt matter as long as you keep the gun nice n wet. Lol

It works perfectly fine. It's beneficial to use very light small drops, in multiple locations.

When you were in school, I wonder if your instructors played background music while they were teaching. FYI, it's annoying and doesn't add to what you're doing.

The one part I needed to see you didn't show exactly where you were lubricating it. Ugh!

oh, but the open carry pistols aren't as popular? that's really interesting.... think about your words before you say them. "...most popular style guns, the modern carry pistol." concealment matters not in the style of pistol.

Weird people use Cotton swabs… I use a gun scrubber spray and a small paint brush to agitate carbon then respray. Shake out excess. Same with slide. Lube Done…

It was meant to be simple. Although it may seem like "common sense" to some, it may not be to new gun owners. Hopefully we will have some more in depth videos in the future.
