Awesome job Stuart! Glad to see that your orchids will be safe for the winter. I will soon be preparing as well. Wish me luck. :)

you did a very nice job wrapping the shade house , but I was under the impression that it did not get that cold in Florida. What is your average winter temperature low? do you run a heater in there also? Looks good! great video

I live north of Orlando, so it gets below freezing here a couple times every year. January and February are the worst. Yes I have to heat, which I will share a video of next :) i heat anything below 60...thanks for the love :)

@@mainlyvandas214 Hi, I'm also in Orlando, what do you use for heating purposes? Do you keep a fan in there while the plastic is in place?

@@laurarethers5528 Hello. Yes, my fans run 24/365. I use propane heater called Hot Dawg. Its wonderful and I can control Temps very easy with remote thermostat.

My Catts and vandas are right now inside because of winter,so what type of light I should use for them??
@mainlyvandas2146 жыл бұрын
A south facing window works the best if indoors. East facing is next best...keep.away from.cold drafts or heat/cooling vents as this will dry out the plant/buds too much. A lot of water still for Vandas!!! They love water!

@@mainlyvandas214 and if I use artificial light,then what I should use?
@mainlyvandas2146 жыл бұрын
@@Justusorjustone I am not familiar with growing indoors too much. I would say a nice florescent or LED shop light would suffice. Fairly cheap at hardware store...

winter? It was 88 degrees today!😉 Some of the orchids aren't sure what to do, I've got new growth on my Lycaste, Den speciosum and two Den nobile hybrids. They should all be going into winter rest not growing!

My Vandas sure arent complaining!! Definitely been a mild start to the cold temps. It however always sneaks up on us quick like!

@@mainlyvandas214 My very few Vandas aren't complaining either. My Neostylis Lou Sneary surprised me by giving me 4 spikes (that I can see so far). Two of those I thought had aborted during the summer but they've started growing again. Won't complain, I love that little bloom and the fragrance is magical, the more spikes the better with it!
