I am an instructor, I use to box so I incorporate a lot of boxing techniques into my classes (because women love it and its the best training :) This was something I never thought of explaining in this way! I always explain the twisting, the arm extension, the push and pull back with speed and the way you do it makes so much sense! Thanks!

@txmunds11 жыл бұрын
That all depends on the range. Stepping in is always gonna give you more penetration which is the key to more power but a good knock out is done by design and not by power(IE Silva v. Griffin) If you are close range then you probably just wanna pivot, that's what i teach at least. Long to medium range is definitely a step in though because you have to be able to strike at least 6 inches deep. Hope that helps.

Do you only drive off your back foot, or do you use your front foot a little as well like a 90-10 split?
@guiskard61658 жыл бұрын
you usually only turn your back leg a little forward, so you can bring the momentum to the hip, which brings it to the torso and so on. but you need to pay attention that bot your feet face the target, when you punch, so you can hold the balance, keep more stamina and have an even stronger punch
@guiskard61658 жыл бұрын

is this all fiber thing based on the fact that when you consciously use your muscles even in the gym or whatever you only use around one third of your muscles strength potential because that is more energy efficient? and the way you unlock all your strength is when in survival mode which is why you hear stories about people lifting cars to save kids or dogs or their homework or something haha

@gohan45859 жыл бұрын
Sorry Mr.Trav but, you're actually not supposed to tense everything at the same time because it breaks the body's natural momentum. The muscles are supposed follow the kinetic chain of movement from ground up to minimize the energy used and also accelerate the traveling momentum in a fluid motion. Also why the hands should clinch only on impact. I can demonstrate if u like.

no its your weight that matters
@johnybolt471811 жыл бұрын
If you have small knuckles and small hands i suggest dumbells keep them in your hand when praticing punches so that you can increase speed rememeber spped increases impact just a small brick thrown at a high speed can do real damage so imagine your hand and i don't think weight really matters cause if you have too much size your punches will be slow and then you would have wasted time watching this.

what hes saying sounds like it makes sense but i notice mike tyson doesnt flex his tricep at the end or chuck liddell both which obviously have knock out power. i think flexing tricep slows momentum started by the waist movement.
@GeekyGamingGG10 жыл бұрын
Now, i see what you mean, and that is good and logical thinking, but take a step back and look at how the triceps work. Try extending your arm and pushing horizontally against a wall while having your arm push with the right side of your right arm, or left side of your left arm, you see your triceps flex? Well, by punching like the guy in the video does, you're actually activating your triceps along with shoulders and even extend your finger joints so when you push down on the middle, you feel bones. Basically, just bend your fingers and think of a bullet, it has a wedge effect like your finger does. The wedge effect created by your fingers' being bent in the middle will create more pain, like how it's easier to chop wood with an axe. Or even act like you're cutting wood at an odd angle, 45 degrees in between your stomach and right arm, then use your hand as an axe, while examining your triceps or using your other arm to feel for flex, see the difference? Don't worry, even though it make look slower, with just the triceps trick, it will actually go faster since (same mass x more force = faster acceleration, based off of reverse engineering the formula f=ma (force = mass x acceleration) ) Hope this answered your question and helped you picture the science behind it.
@edo555510 жыл бұрын
Geeky Gaming its not that its slower. try doing push ups at lower level vs higher level (with your arms further extended) your pecs have a lot more power partially extended vs fully extended. i think more of the power gets reabsorbed on impact when making a punch and having your arms extended (since triceps are a relatively weak muscle vs pectoral ) vs making a punch by forming a 90 degree L with your elbow (which pectoral ends up reabsorbing blowback) . obviously you would have to close the distance or have the opportunity arise while in a fight. but check out some of mike tyson knockouts or watch a knockout highlight and you will find the harder shots being done in this fashion. look for fighters who excel in knockouts. just watch rashad evans knocks out chuck liddell one of the most brutal knockouts out there. i think what this guy is saying only "sounds good on paper".
@edo555510 жыл бұрын
Geeky Gaming dont you think mike tyson knows how to throw a punch? lol thas all he won by. look up how to punch like mike tyson. no arm extension.

Geeky Gaming i know what hes saying. I agree thats probably the most technical way to punch as it extends range. But the more pwerful punches are aformentioned in my opinion. Im no expert though. Look up how to punch like mike tyson. Have a good day bro.

ace hardy Yes. Wing Chun is based on the principle of using the right axis for striking. It also uses minimum strength and the shortest shortcut to deliver the most effiscient and quickest punch.
