during this summer I discovered how I have been dealing with anxiety, stress, and depression all my entire life. I enjoy your videos dr. trish. I am learning a lot from you.

Hi Dr Trish - My personal journey with anxiety. First I had to acknowledge I have it and accept it. Like most things in life there is a trade off I’ve accepted there is good and bad with anxiety. It can be a tool for good by pushing a person to stay consistent working towards goals. I’ve found when I procrastinate my anxiety becomes a negative. Second I work hard to stay in present and firm believer conscious mind can only focus one thing at a time. Lastly I stick to process whatever I am doing laundry, work, sports, hobbies, etc. I write down in journal what I want my process to be more details step by step better. My wife is opposite very spontaneous not a planner this is great for me and helped me let go understand you can not control everything sometimes just have to go for it and enjoy . Thank you for this video makes a lot of sense.

A couple of things, you said there are 5 speeds but only explained 4: slow, medium, fast and ultra fast. And what you described is not a negative feedback loop, it is actually a positive one. A feedback loop that augments itself is positive. "Positive feedback occurs to increase the change or output: the result of a reaction is amplified to make it occur more quickly. Negative feedback occurs to reduce the change or output: the result of a reaction is reduced to bring the system back to a stable state."

So glad to hear that on a site to do with mental health tips. It's been a life saver for me too, for 4 years now since I converted, not realizing I'd be receiving this gift that makes fighting those invisible mind monsters not just a fair fight but one I can win *daily* Feels amazing not to get a "helpless victim" any more and to be able to fight back and see the attacking evil turn tail and run 💙🙏💙✝️✝️✝️💛❤️💛

Thanks for the memorable analogy of the path. In fact, given the power of visualization, I have to believe it would be helpful to also visualize the old path becoming overgrown as a new path comes into being. :)

Dr. Leigh.... This extra fast speed brain which you have described also perfectly describes the ongoing condition of those of us who represent one out of 38 people suffering from Asperger's or high-functioning autism. By the way they say that many doctors and engineers have Asperger's so to dispel any myths, we are average to above-average intelligence. The ongoing high anxiety in our neurodivergent brains are very very frustrating. Could you do a little bit of research on this please and address it in your wonderful videos. Thank you kindly

So it's not chemical imbalance in brain, its learned behavior?
@DrTrishLeighBrainRewire3 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily learned behavior in all cases but an imbalance of electrical energy use, which can lead to Neurochemical imbalances. Sometimes the pattern is organic, you are born with it, because it has a familial component. Then when you use the pattern it becomes worse. This is the environmental aspect. But… The pattern can be decreased so that you feel and perform better no matter its origin.

@endezeichengrimm Жыл бұрын
You already know if you have anxiety. It's an obvious feeling just like anger, sadness, depression or joy. Avoid social media, video games and TV in general. Get used to being bored. Read books and meditate. Clean your house and minimise everything. Less is better. That's how you calm down.

why is everything negative so easy to hardwire into our brains?
@DrTrishLeighBrainRewire2 жыл бұрын
A lot of these negative things happen to feel extremely good and pleasurable in the moment and then send you in a spiral afterwards. People tend to focus only on those good feelings and continue to go back for more and more

You actually can tho! I’ve been at a dual diagnostic facility for the last 60 days and you can certainly shift your brains thoughts. It’s called mindfulness, and learning how to practice mindfulness can help detour your thoughts away from those that make you anxious.
