This is great! I am 30 years old and just became the head (and only) pastor of a church that has been without a pastor for close to 2 years and has lost people over the time and currently has about 20 members who are mostly over 50. This was very encouraging, because I am starting to experiment with many new things to start growth.

Thank you, good discussion. However, I was looking for more specific examples on how to help grow my small Church. We are open to trying things that we haven't before, but we just don't know what those new things are. Maybe you can give some more specific examples next time? Thanks.

Another advantage of being small is intimacy. Being smaller, we can offer much more personal attention to each member. Of course that can be a problem for those who desire anonymity in their worship assembly.

Awesome fam... Lets plant churches. I can add one- As a small church find out what God is doing In your city and plugin in to that. Not every idea works everywhere, God uses different churches differently. Otherwise thanks for the ideas.

Hey! I have a question. My church is located in New Hampshire, which is the 2nd least religious state in all of America. In the capital, concord, you can count the various steeples and religious buildings but no one goes to them anymore. How can you reach people that have already made their mind up about church?

Good advice. I'm been in ministry 4 many years and I've been ordained for almost 3 years but the problem with me is that I don't have the money to start by buying a building or renting 1

Thanks for this one! We have two Christian universities and a lot of middle-aged families in our community that we’re trying to reach. We’re a church of about 25, so we’re willing to try just about anything. You won’t know the outcome unless you try.

I can appreciate your enthusiasm, the fresh ideas and so on, Your marketing strategies are outstanding… Too bad you don’t mention the bible. Or Jesus way. Keep up the good work.

Appreciate the feedback! In my experience, churches usually don't struggle to teach the Bible or focus on Jesus - they do struggle to understand marketing though.

Im sorry to disagree about the "lifting weights out of your league" part. If properly done makes to body to expand to accommodate the new challenge by using its resources. Its a way of shifting away from a plateau. But don't tru his without a professional trainer who knows about this phenomenon.

Are we really resorting to critiquing the appearance of others and their hair choices? Really?
@newsfromthepews63916 жыл бұрын
My apologies. Perhaps to consider. Your venue is visual as well as audio. If you have a huge pimple on the end of your nose. I am listening but distracted by the pimple which ultimately distracts. If you have a guest who wears provocative clothing, I am listening but distracted. If your niche is exclusively millennial, disregard this entirely. If greater, consider that people over 40 may be distracted. Perhaps because many of them (like me) had very long hair decades ago. For my generation, cutting that hair was part of a maturing process. To your point addressing acceptance from older Sr. Pastors, those in that group will be distracted. Not looking to argue the point; just an observation. If your approach is, too bad. That is us. That is fine. Just saying.
@prochurchtools6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the apology, Casey. I appreciate your feedback. Let me say this: Alex is an ordained minister and one of the most humble and loving people I've ever met. He has served in the same church since he was a little kid and is a remarkable individual. You said, "for my generation, cutting that [long] hair was part of a maturing process." I would say this, if hair length is a determining factor of maturity, then perhaps we should re-examine how we're measuring maturity.

LOL. If you were terminally ill and the doctor stood in front of you explaining the cure and there was a doctor with a man bun standing 5 ft. away, would you be distracted to the point you missed what the doctor said? #justcurious
