How do you get the symmetry of the glass jar so easily. I’m at the stage of dropping vertical lines (center and sides) to be sure I have symmetrical shaping.

It takes practice, and you are on the right track. After some time, you could be able to form mental images of those vertical lines without the need to use a pencil. If you are just beginning, pencil is very helpful in your learning journey. :)
