Lori I’m a fine artist who’s been working with colored pencils since 1998, and I have to say I love your channel. This makes things so much easier! I don’t know why they don’t teach this in college. In my experience, they only introduced the color wheel in Painting 1 class. This is awesome. Keep up the amazing work! 🙌🎨 ✏️

Great content here! I'm ordering both wheels now. No printer but this is important enough for me to get the paper work and have it printed on good paper. I think I'm even more excited after watching this! Thanks again, Lori.

I had the... Colour Wheel Company (?) wheel and I thought it needed more because umm, yeah - there's a difference between Green Blue and Blue Green, because one is more a Blue and the other is more a Green. What you call your base colour would be the noun, and the preceding word is the adjective. That's how I think of it to make sense to me coming from a literature POV - adjective/noun, with the noun being the dominant word. But yeah - I always thought that those colour wheels that people usually use weren't that comprehensive/useful! So thank you for directing us to a better colour wheel! I've been half-looking for a better one for ages and keep forgetting about it, and this is going to be very invaluable 👍

I say ‘greenish yellow” instead of green yellow and that helps to figure out that green was added to yellow.

Hi, Lori. I have been looking for an answer to the following question for about a week, searching through all your videos. (I bought Comprehensive Coloring 1 & 2.) If you addressed it somewhere and I missed it, so sorry-I am hoping you see it here: While swatching colors in the Prismacolor set, you typically use your pods to show the tone and the tint. When shading the tone, I have a multitude of grays that I can use. I assumed you would use cool grays with cool colors, but it becomes more complicated when one considers undertones. So I figured that cool grays would be used with a cool base color... But then there is also the question of which percentage of pigment? Does it change when one has a lighter color? I have the whole 150 set of Prismacolor. My swatched tones are not looking like the computer-printed version at all (not that I would expect them to be identical). Anyhow, I’m finally breaking down and asking you after a valiant search. Thanks!

Lol - Lori...I guess it shows that I'm not a beginner ....I couldn't help but go..."Limepeel and AquaMarine" (Haven't used my Poly's enough yet to automatically "go there") when you had asked us what the two colors were....didn't have a long time to analyze the two colors or I may have chosen a different one for the "green"...but I knew instantly that it had yellow in it....☺️

I can see now that this course couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I knew I wanted to understand colors better, but didn’t really know how to proceed. And that was also why I’ve been hesitating to swatch my various media. I wanted to order them in some meaningful way and then swatch them, but it felt like I was randomly ordering colors without really being able to identify them properly or else I was relying on someone else to have put it in some meaningful order for me, and I didn’t really like either option.

Hi Lori. I am confused. Are undertone and base color the same? What about browns and tans, greys and neon colors? I don’t know what the undertone/base color is. Thank you for sharing your God-given talent and patience with me. I have purchased Color Blending 1 and 2, was working through 1 but decided to join you on this journey and go back later to 1.

I am glad it did. Once it really sets in and you get used to looking for the undertone colors, it makes everything easy. It also translates well to other media like paints etc.

Is it just me or does the tone side not show much of a difference in color from the outer edge to the inner tip? I can clearly see a significant difference on the tint side of the wheel.Maybe I will see the difference more clearly when I get the actual color wheel.

Confession and transparency time. I must admit that I had my color wheel packed away and haven't used mine in a year. Now what message does that send? Hmmmmmm. And I wonder from time to time why all my pictures are Monochrome? Even though everyone loves my personal style, I find that it can be boring at times. I am soooooo looking forward to breaking out of my self-imposed shell.....

About the printing paper, have you, or anyone here, tried Springhill Digital Vellum Cardstock, in 67 lb or 80 lb? It is cheaper than Neenah Exact Vellum Bristol, at least on Amazon, so I wonder if the quality is the same, or inferior. I am located in Australia, so the only way I can access these papers is buying from Amazon.

If I hadn't already been subscribed, this would have got you a new sub. :) I knew what a blue/green color is a mixed color, I knew putting down one color over the other gave you different results. I didn't know how the naming system worked, telling me which color was put down first. I am now armed and dangerous!

I have the Rainbow one too. I believe it's a 12 not an 18, but stick with it. It will work just not as well, you can always change it out if it doesn't work. It all depends on how close you want to match colors and factor in your ability to see colors and you will probably be OK. And my husband begs to differ with you about me not being nuts. He is standing here laughing and wants to make you a bet.
