I am 35 years old and just this past year I have realized that most of my problems in my life are OCD related. I used to think I just had anxiety but most of my worrying was in a way due to extreme intrusive thoughts or compulsions. When I started having extreme health anxiety around 2020-2021 I started to become hyper aware of my thoughts and bodily sensations to the point of I could tell what my pulse was even without checking it. 4 years into health anxiety I started to question everything, I had intrusive thoughts of killing my family and even couldn't even look at a knife or scissors. I began to forget how to breathe, where to put my tongue without choking on it etc. I still struggle with cardiophobia and dizziness. I am saying all this just to say that YOU are NOT ALONE and just finding out and doing alot of research on OCD can be so RELIEVING. I literally thought my life was over and I genuinely thought I was loosing my mind. OCD, ANXIETY, and Intrusive thoughts do not have to control us. Once we take the fear out of our thoughts, saying "maybe... maybe not', "that was weird, maybe that might happen again cool, oh well" etc, it will get better. Trying to control everything or every body sensation creates a spiral of stuck thoughts, and once we try to fix a possible perceived threat then it can take us on a fear OCD ride for hours, days, months, or years. Love you all, stay strong.

Same. I thought i was an over thinker. Meanwhile the entire way my brain was working was “wrong” 😂😂😂

@@BlasianLynn Wow right? I thought everyone was scared of everything. Not until around till I was mid 20s did I start noticing that most people are not living in constant 'what if' mind set. But I still thought most of it was anxiety.... I thought the compulsions and checking were normal. No body talks about this stuff, you just end up finding out later on in life sometimes much later that you might have some problems lol.

I have had OCD all my life. I don’t remember a time without it. It’s interesting that you can “develop” it. Must be nice to have at least some type of a “normal” brain at first 🤷🏽♀️😂

People can actually develop OCD, after all you weren't born with it. You developed and discovered it at some point in your life be it childhood, teenagehood or adulthood.

lol it’s not that great, since you can’t really remember what your life was before the OCD anyway 😭
