Nanny I'm 85 and can relate to everything you said. With me getting tired easily is related to depression. I try to not dwell on it. Have good and bad days. Seem when I hit 84 physically everything went wrong. I had skin cancer and you feel like your loosing control of your life. So it sets you back for a while. Then you rest and nuture yourself till you feel strong again. I live by myself so I can do that. By the way you look beautiful those eyes. My grandmother who raised me had those eyes. She was from Roscommon and you look so much like her. Your shoulders look fine without the pads. When I'm at home I only where a loose house dress no under garments. I like to be comfortable and let my body breathe. I have 3 dogs who make me happy a few friends mostly younger than me. But I'm happiest at home decorating my cottage in Barbados. I try to stay away from stress maybe thats why I like living by myself. But when you reach our age you ca t help but think that you have few years left which is stressful. My 4 children have their own lives and I don't want to rely on them for anything or worry about me. It just comes down that I just hope my dogs die before me. I don't want to sound morbid but thats just a reality. Anyhow I wii try to enjoy my life In the mean time as much as possible. ❤ 29:32

Great advice! I had spine surgery at 52. It left me with nerve damage in my left side, and chronic pain. Took two years to ditch my cane. I took up photography, as my career as a nurse was over. Best thing I have ever done. First hobby I ever had. I do have limitations in activity, but I have so much fun doing what I can do. As I age, 70 now, I will still be able to photograph things on my kitchen table. Adjusting was difficult, but I was young. Had to give up pretty shoes, and can only wear sneakers. So I accessorize! 😊 I am a fall risk, so I am extra careful. I spend a lot of time in physical therapy, but it keeps my balance in tip top shape, and hopefully that will keep me from taking a tumble. My husband had a work accident the following year, and my mother was diagnosed with cancer. It was a tough stretch. Since we both wound up with only one good leg, we moved after 37 years to a house where going upstairs is optional. We love it here. None of this is what we expected, but it’s what we got. We are still here, and some of our friends aren’t. We took a huge financial hit, but live simply, and it’s ok. Very grateful.

Just this week at age 76, I've started realizing I needed to adjust my activity level with my energy level as I was ending up exhausting myself with trying to keep up with my younger self. Accepting I don't have to do it all myself. Its very freeing to realize and accept this. My minister told me asking for help is a blessing for you and a blessing for the one helping.❤❤

Thank you Nanny for all you do. You are amazing at your age and I am so impressed with you! I lost my Mom Sept. 20 last year, at the age of 84, her back started crumbling from disease and she was unable to walk for almost a year. I know she is happy now and hugging her Mom who she lost at a young age. I am lucky she was in my life for so long and I am blessed. I have had so many struggles and amazing life journeys, I could write a book. But even with all my autoimmune diseases which take me down most days, I still am blessed with so many memories...I am 68 and will turn 69 in June. Hubby and I will celekbrate our 50th in 2 more weeks. Take care and keep on going on....blessings!

Lost my 90 yr old mother when I was 69. Biggest blow of my entire life. Ironically, I was not prepared because she was so hardy. Or because how could someone who was such a part of my life for so long ever die? Anyhow, she saw people at the end, and I like to think is reunited with them. Continue to think good thoughts about your mom's spirit.

I am 10 years younger than you. I live by myself & life isn’t easy but I keep going & I dread to think of not being able to continue doing what I’m doing now. I have been a city girl until I decided to move to the country a couple years ago & now have 40 chickens to care for, that I dearly love. I pray the Lord takes me before I am too old to care for my chickens. But, now I am considering moving again. The thought of packing things up & moving again is pretty much overwhelming. I have so much stuff, I really need to part with a lot. I got rid of a ton of stuff when I moved last, but now I have to do all it again🤦🏼‍♀️ I think that you are doing great for your age. Just keep doing what you’re doing & you are right, it’s just a little bit of adjusting & all will be fine. God bless you both & keep you in His loving care 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼

@@crushingtheir80snannyandmoose I know it’s a relief to my daughter when I get rid of things. I’m sure in her mind it’s a lot less to deal with when I am gone & she’s the opposite of me, a minimalist. The only thing she got from me is her love of clothes & shoes. But, she’s good about purging clothes on Poshmart. Poshmart would be great if I didn’t forget to check my email after advertising stuff.🤦🏼‍♀️

Even when you live with someone you can feel like you are alone. Today that was me.I realize I have got to get up and do things by myself but getting up and doing isn’t always easy. Motivation is key. You have nudged me a bit today and reminded me to be grateful for my long life and all the blessings I have received. Sometimes it is easier to wallow but today is too sunny and bright for that and you have shown me how silly I am to waste this precious time I have been given. Thank you for your lovely visit today.

Nanny, I am almost 84, widowed 37 years ago and never remarried. I was never seriously ill, moved fast, multitasking, then at 80 yo my body decided to quit...arthritis in both knees, total hip replacement, cataract surgery. Resisted as long possoble the cane, walker, wheelchair. Gave up driving. I now do what I can, when I can. Have learned to ask for help from my son and 2 daughters, nap when I want and basically eat what I want. Much less stressful than worrying about what I used to do. Love sharing your story with The Moose.

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Nanny, I was a hair salon, owner and cosmetology master instructor for 53 years and I’m only 70 years old going on 71. I am booked for March 18, 2024 for my second my left total reverse shoulder replacement I’ve already had the right one done two years ago and it is wonderful. Have zero pain zero weakness it’s wonderful, so I would recommend if anyone is healthy and they need shoulder surgery and discuss it with your surgeon for age wise. It is very, very very successful. It is called total reverse shoulder replacement, because they put the metal and plastic reverse of how God made it when you’re born you’re born with the socket on one side and the ball of your shoulder on the other well when your shoulder is blown all apart from age and arthritis, they put the socket in the ball reverse of how you were born with

Nanny i really needed to hear this today. I laffed when you said you dont wear bras. Im a person who sleeps in mine. I love the sports bras. So comfy. This yr ive noticed my shoulders hurting when i hook it. So i remember my mom saying hook it in front then turn it. Works! You inspire me so much. Im 76 and arthritis has moved in. I do get depressed easily these days. Altho im thankful im pretty healthy. I learned today my best friend is moving into an assisted living place 2 hrs away. Im feeling very blue😢. I always look for your videos to help cheer me up. You are so honest and real. I agree that be grateful is important. We tend to forget our blessings when we are hurting or depressed. I agree also that turning on tv will help I meant to commenton your video with your brothers that i loved your photo albums you made! Glad your knee is better. I hope you know that you are such a joy to me and so many on here. I keep say that i can do this! Love you and moosie❤❤.

I am Carol from Al. I am a subscriber, I just want to say it is like you read my mind. I have had several falls and broken bones this last year. I have started off 2024, with a knee problem. I am 73, and have realized our lives are not going to be the way they used to be. We have been married for almost 55 yrs. Seems like my husband is holding up better than I am. But yes there are alot of people and our friends who are not holding up as well as we have. However, you are such and inspiration to us all. As I have watched in past videos I so admired how you could just get around and do all that you were doing. I guess time comes at different ages and stages to all of us to know we are slowing down, I am so thankful we are still pretty on top of things mentally. You and your sweet husband are just a fine example of how you can adjust your lives and still enjoy all that is around you. Love you and your wonderful family. I want to thank you for doing this every week, you have truly blessed so many people.

I loved your video today. Pokes me right where I needed a poke. Just turned 73 and after looking much younger all my life, I am now starting to look and feel my age. It's a bit of a challenge to boost up sometimes. Gratitude is such a wonderful gift. Most of us, all our lives, have been graceful givers to others, particularly those older than we were. Now we are the elders, we need to be the graceful recipients of the gifts of others. It is evidence of that great circle of life they sing about "May the Circle be Unbroken, Lord." Cheers, mt friend.

Good morning Nanny. I have experienced these things for years. Pain, fatigue and problems getting around to do the simplest of things. Add to those grief and loneliness. I find that ignoring everything to the best of my ability is best for me. Dwelling on a problem magnifies it. To ignore things you need distraction. I am a hugh believer in pets. The other thing is hobbies. I try to put my mind on something else. When the pain is unbearable, I lay in bed and read, embroider or get out an adult coloring book and pencils. My body is resting but my mind is occupied. I have faced many challenges in n my life. However I don’t believe in feeling sorry for myself. I push through things. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband, children and grandchildren. I have lived a long life. I have my fur baby, home, food and clothing. I live in a wonderful free country. My goodness we can either sit down and give into the pain etc. then give up. Or we can put on our big girl panties and adjust to the challenges that God puts before us. I know people who would rather complain and dwell on a problem (sometimes for attention) than find a solution. All of your suggestions were great. I hope that what you said will reach someone at just the right time in their life. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon

Gratitude and counting your blessings changes your point of view from focusing on what you don’t have (a young, wrinkle free, healthy body full of stamina) and focusing on what you do have. For most of us, we are blessed beyond belief. Gratefulness and appreciation changes the chemistry in our brains. Sometimes I imagine this is my last day on earth. Thank you 😊 Absolutely spot on ! I’ve lived with debilitating episodes due to my back since my late teens . I’m now 60, and struggling with daily pain currently .. it’s been 18 mths since I flared up with a condition that caused a tonne of pain . It is very true ; that to cope with these type of challenges , ie ; being physically restricted , you must embrace the reality of THE MOMENT that you’re in . Fighting against things , just causes more stress , and unhappiness . Appreciating what you CAN do , what you do have ~ even if it’s the simplest thing like : I can breathe …. It just helps to focus the brain and energy towards a positive direction . Being angry and miserable generally leads to more of the same . Naturally those negative feelings arise and we do need to process things to a degree , however recognising that there’s a dark hole , that we could easily fall into if we’re not careful , is one way to avoid it . Fill our minds as much as we can with gratitude and thoughts of what we are able to do , and pursue that . There is peace to be found in acceptance , and in peace we find our happiness . It’s not always easy , especially when in bad pain ~ but I agree totally in this very wise advice ~ that acceptance and adjusting to the changing circumstances of our health , age , ability etc ~ is the key to moving forward and managing to cope . Hopefully to even thrive ~ even if it’s just a moment here or there that the sense of thriving occurs ~ enjoy that ! ❤ And keep moving 👍👍~ which I’m going to do now . Xx

I was having knee problems. I saw a video on KZbin that showed the person lying on their back. They lifted one leg at a time, bending the knee, with the calf and heel horizontal to the bed, and doing small circles with your leg in each direction. I do just five circles in one direction and then the other direction. Then I do the other leg. I just do this lying in my bed before I get up. This helped me a lot.

Hello dear Friend, A Wonderful video. I'm 63 now and just love what you are saying here, it is helpful and encouraging. We had to call an ambulance for my 94 year old mom, she had a fractured femur cup from a fall, and just went through the surgery yesterday. God was so good to lead the way for us! She has dementia and the drugs are affecting her. She was doing better cognitivelly yesterday before and even after surgery but now after the narcotics etc. she's not doing well mentally, prayerfully things will pass to some kind of do-able normal or better. So it is a challenge, the hospital calls me early in the morning between 3 and 5am and my husband and I have to calm her down over the phone. I was telling her about you, and she remembered you. : ) Now my mil who is 100 and still drives has issues today and hubs had to bring her in today. When it rains it pours. You have been on my mind, and I sure hope your knee is better, you seem to be progressing wonderfully. Prayers are welcome. I've been praying for you. Just wanted to stop by and say Hello! ~Amelia My Forest Cathedral

Years ago I met an older woman in the steam room. She was putting oil all over her body as was my husband every day. I asked her about it and she told me she was in Germany when a doctor told her to do this everyday after her shower when her skin was still a little tepid. She had very painful osteoarthritis but when she used the oil she had no pain but couldn’t miss one day of the oil massage. Your are wonderful in every way Nanny. Looking at the comments seems you need to post more than once a week

Your advice is immensely appreciated! It really helped me put things in perspective. You are my favorite inspiration these days. I love your optimism. I’ve always been a very optimistic person. I greatly appreciate the effort it takes to continue to be optimistic after a setback. You help, Nanny. You and Moose. Thank you. A sweet person! So glad to have you as a friend. I’m 77 and married for 57 yrs. I feel a few little aches and pains sometimes but really haven’t had big problems. I pray I never will, but if I do, I will try to be as positive as you. I really should be because I look forward to leaving this world behind and going to be with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know heaven is better than any place here on this beautiful earth. I don’t want to sound morbid, just honest. I hope you have made Jesus you Lord and Savior too. We could meet in heaven. That would be wonderful! Love you and praying for you. 🙏🩷🙏

You are a terrific lady. I sure do wish I had a husband as great as yours. You two are the best. I love watching all of your episodes. You make me smile and laugh and you have taught me one very important thing......if I like my makeup or the way I dress then that's OK.. No one else has to like it but if it is what expresses who I am and I feel good about it then that's OK..I learned about your channel from rxstrmom patti. I'm so glad I subscribed and started watching you. I watch you everyday especially when I feel especially lonely. You make me feel like you are right here with me just talking to me. What a sweet lady you are. And very beautiful inside and out. I have no one. No family and no friends but when I listen to you for at least that time I don't feel so all alone. You are right on target with accepting new limitations. I have only begun to learn this in the last few years. I no longer buy the 36-bottles of water; I dropped to 24. I no longer get 5-gal jugs for the dispenser; I dropped to 3-gal. I have accepted that 3 trips to the car to carry groceries is easier & safer than trying to do it all in one trip. I only put out as many Christmas decorations as I thought I'd have energy to put away. It seems like I'm finding ways to adjust daily...and that leads to things like gratitude & less stress! Love, hugs, and blessings to you and Moosie from chilly West Texas --

Nanny, I am in a slump today, as well. I have Covid, and am miserable with it. So, if anyone is looking for something to be grateful for, be grateful you don't have Covid. I have found that since the pandemic, there a lot of webinars and other online events through libraries, universities, etc. I try to find and sign up for any of them that interest me. They are free, you'll learn something new, and you don't have to leave the house. I also find that I need to push myself. Sometimes I will have plans to do something and then try to talk myself out of it at the last minute. I tell myself I just have to do it. Also, if you feel the need, find a therapist. There are those out there who take Medicare, however it may take some digging to find them. Mine has helped me a lot to accept and navigate this thing called old age.

Nanny, thankyou for always being cheerful and positive. I also am a Christian. Our Lord promises to work all things together FOR OUR GOOD. Praise Him for that! Would like to add, a Minister who recovered from cancer introduced us to the Hallelujah Diet - high raw vegies and salads with green juices and smoothies. We do add and take grass fed liver capsules for iron and B12 etc. and cold pressed cod liver oil for D vitamin and DHA.. Overall it has been a huge help to us both. Peppermint tea also gives a good pickup in place of caffeine. I too do the 16/8 intermittent fasting window. I'm 75.

Really sound advice Nanny re- aging and surviving and staying positive- thanks for this. Gratitude is everything - remember Doris Day's saying ''Gratitude is riches /complaint is poverty."" DD also said [and it is true] ''This too shall pass'' and, ''out of everything bad comes something good.'' We may not see it at the time but if you really look - this is true! Continued prayers for your continued recovery - stay fabulous Nanny - you look so beautiful - love Jas x

Boy did I need to hear this today. I’m not even 62, and my health wasn’t great since my husband and father died eight years ago, but this past year I feel like it went down the tubes no matter what I’ve done. I struggle with no oxygen unless I’m strict with Whole Foods(AIP)… no oxygen, no energy. I thought I’d be like this 10-15 years from now. So discouraging. So I’m super strict now with taking care of my stress levels. Learning to let go of “what was” LoL I’ve said what you said for years Getting old isn’t for the weak!” Wow… and Howdy!..
